This Bank refuses to do a proper investigation into identity thief through my online account. I reported my card lost , 3 days later this Bank honors a fake check for ******** to process through my online banking even though I've never had a check deposited for more than $950. The next day VACU approves a cash app for $1000.Instead of them looking at this as suspicious activity, identity thief, VACU locks me out of my account, accusing me of some wrong doing and waits until my next work deposit hit and takes my entire check to satisfy the account. This bank is absolutely horrible. I have since closed my account and filed a police report. PLEASE DO NOT put your trust and money into this bank.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response

VACU is "free" but clearly you get what you pay for. they let transactions pend for days so they can squeeze insufficient funds fees out of you. It also was a hassle getting a new card because there is no communication between branches or "member services." this bank is a wanna be ***** ***** and they don't deserve your money or consideration for opening an account.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Virginia credit union operates in a shady manner.Even though it states that direct deposit transactions take 1 business day to clear, my paycheck will show as a pending transactions for 2 full business days before it clears. The outgoing transactions that are pending on your account do not reflect on your available balance. This is leads you to believe you have more money than what you really do. In the past 2 weeks because of this, 6 over draft fees at $35 a piece. That's $215 dollars they made off me. Now comes today's. 7/03. I wake up to see they've added 3 "continued overdraft fees" at $5 a piece. This bank has absolutely horrible business practices.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response

Avoid at all costs, or it could COST YOU BIG. Horrible "bank". Will take 2-3 weeks to clear your check you deposit, even if its from the same place you've been employed for 10 years. They'll give no explanation other than something like "oh our fraud department picked it up for any number of reasons" and "there's nothing we can do". What's worse is, during this time period they'll happily charge you unlimited number of overdraft or insufficient funds fees for trying to use the hard earned money you deposited into your trusted "bank" to try and pay your bills earlier than the aforementioned "bank" has randomly decided you should have access to your money. Then, after your money eventually clears, you call back to get some help with the fees they charged, maybe they'll reimburse one of the SEVERAL overdraft charges if you're lucky and they haven't done this to you before to where you've already used your "good faith reimbursement".Unbelievable. You'd be better off letting a toddler handle your money.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response

I'm giving them two stars because I have been with them since 2008, I was a grad. student at *** and done with NavyFed (They are horrible). I just recently applied for a loan and even though I'm a well paid professor with a major University, with a credit score of over 750- they said no to me, when I called (because they can't be bothered to reach out to their customers though email) that I didn't even qualify for thier lowest loan amount. *Note I am a black woman* am I saying this is racial- let's put it this way, I have other lines of credit-(they have all been paid on time for years, I don't have one negitive thing on my report and my car is about to be paid off next month. I was getting a card just for emergencys- I'm moving this summer and didn't want to be caught out there- I also have less then 5 thousand in debts. So, you do the math. I'm far from a high risk borrower. Well -rejection is lifes protection, after that, I'm moving my money else where and after reading all the reviews about the treatment you get when they do approve you for credit, I know now why I got PROTECTED. Goodbye VACU.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response

Got an auto loan with VACU. I was not told I would not be able to pay off the full loan amout in full either online via ACH/Wire transfer, over the phone, etc. I would have to MAIL in a physical check to their PO Box, all while accuring interest DAILY on the loan. I was enrolled in their online banking, I tried adding funds to the account so then I could use that to completely pay off the loan, was not able to do so.In addition, I noticed additional principal disbursements on my loan. When I inquired from a customer service rep, they said it was for "additional insurance on your loan". I said I was never told this would happen, nor did I ever approve of anything of the sort. The response I got was "well it was in the loan documents you signed". Yes, its my fault for not reading the fine print, but sneaking this into an auto loan without the customer's approval or even acknowledgement is criminal in my opinion. If you are looking for banking of any sorts, STAY AWAY from VACU. Their reps keep info withheld, even when you ask direct questions, and ***************** and dime you as much as possible.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response

I have 2 Loans with this Credit Union that are both signed up for Automatic Payment. What no one pointed out to me was that if I made a manual payment, the automatic payment would go through and continue to go through until I paid a $50 fee per account to stop it. It's 2023 and they are punishing people for paying their payments in a timely manner. This on top of very few locations where ATMs are often not working, I'd encourage anyone to avoid this business at all costs.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Respectfully, I posted this rating AFTER having contacting Virginia Credit Union 3 times, twice via Secure message and once by call in an attempt to allow them to do the right thing. After having left reviews on ****** maps I have been contacted by Virginia Credit Union to ask me, "if everything is alright." Meaning you have no problem looking into the issue and resolving it if you so wish.I do not wish to spend more of my time explaining why it's wrong to punish people for paying their bills in a timely manner, even if they are signed up for auto pay.Auto pay should be a way to make sure a payment is not accidentally missed. The fact that Virginia Credit Union uses a system that only knows how to take out on a specific date and not have a fail sale that checks to see if that month's payment has already been made is unexcusable in 2023.Review from Josh Q

I went through a horrible experience with someone stealing my identity and opening an account at VACU. I was willing to give them another chance, but they could not process an application for me after coming to my work to recruit new members. I was hoping for a great experience, but, unfortunately, I did not experience it.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response

Vacu manage credit cards app is horrible! It is always down. Go back to the old system where you could pay and use outside accounts to pay credit cards. This is beyond ridiculous!Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response

If I could rate this branch less than a 1 star, I would. I opened an account with them over three weeks ago and still have not received a debit card. I have followed up and get blown off. They are unhelpful and unfriendly.Virginia Credit Union, Inc. Response
