      Today’s date is February 9, 2023. This complaint is regarding New Mexico gas Company. I received a bill for almost $400. I have talked to over 100 people that are having the same issue with New Mexico gas. they stated to some of the people that they didn’t have enough people to go out and read the meters so now they’re getting bills that are well over $300. Now when I just called and got off the phone with a lady called ***** last name starts with A. She stated that my meter has been misread for almost a year. I asked her if her workers understand how to read the meters. No response. I didn’t ask her if I can set up payment arrangements so I don’t get late fees late charges or it hit my credit. She stated no.! She told me I have to wait until after I am past due to be able to set up payment arrangements. I then asked her why I would have to wait to make up arrangements. She did not respond. I asked her or are you guys just waiting for it to hit my credit report. She was kind of mumbling something and I did couldn’t make it out. She continuously tried to interrupt me, I asked her please not to let me talk. I did tell her that I believe it was not legal for them to wait to set up payments until it had already hit my credit report. To me my credit report is everything. She was not helpful at all and did not care about the issue that they’re causing many many people. This should not be legal or right for a company not to build properly. So people know how much money in their budget they can use. I have no income and to be able to make a payment like this is unfathomable. They Should have to read the meters and provide a reasonable bill for that timeframe.

      Christmas Eve my 83 year old mother had her meter disassembled because of a leak at the meter. Finally got a plumber to **mplete the job and the plumber got the state inspector out right away- because mom had not had heat for FOUR days. NM gas is too lazy to get out there after the state released the meter. They will not help an old lady freezing in her home. Mom will not leave, gas ** **uld not even be bothered to check if she had space heaters or get out there when the job was done. Shameful. I call the company and was told because I am not on her ac**unt there is nothing they will do other than I **uld call with her so she **uld verify the ac**unt. Why? All we want is for the company to do what it says- care about their customers. This company only cares about money because if I wanted to pay her bill they would happily take my money but if they have to work forget it. Freeze for all they care.

      This is an update. A day after my review, a nm gas ** representative did reach out to me to discuss my **ncerns/frustration which honestly made me feel heard and valued I do appreciate the **ntact. I am revising my earlier review based on this fact: the ** has company is trying to **rrect their weak areas so we all can enjoy a safe and helpful service.
