If you’re considering a resort where you can park your car and stay in one place for your entire vacation, there are many things to consider before making your reservation.

Some popular types of resorts include ski resorts, beach resorts, or spa resorts. There are also resorts in the mountains or woods where you may stay in your own cabin.

As you start your search, the first thing you may want to consider is distance. Are you looking for a resort near you or one that is a destination to get you away from home?

Next, consider who you’re going with and what type of people each resort attracts. Are you looking for a family resort or something for a romantic getaway?

Another thing to consider is how you’ll be charged during your stay. Some resorts are all-inclusive. You’ll pay one price, and all your meals, drinks and activities are included. Some resorts will have various packages you can purchase to cover specific preset bundles of meals and activities. Some resorts will simply charge you separately for each thing you do.

When you’re looking for a resort, you may think at first that you’ll spend all your time on the grounds, so you don’t have to research anything else. But some resorts are simply close to activities, not home to activities themselves. For example, a ski resort may be close to five or six different mountains you can go to for skiing. In that case, the resort may be more like a hotel, and you’re looking separately for skiing options. 

However, a spa resort may have everything you’re looking for right on its grounds. And a beach resort may include a private beach available only to people staying at the resort.
