Applications Now Open: 2026 BBB Ethics Awards

As a valued Accredited Business of BBB Rio Grande Valley, you represent the very foundation of trust and integrity in our community. Now is your opportunity to be recognized for it.

We are excited to announce that applications are officially open for the 2026 BBB Ethics Awards, and we strongly encourage you to apply.

These awards honor Accredited Businesses that go above and beyond in demonstrating ethical leadership, marketplace trust, and a commitment to doing business the right way.

Award Categories

Platinum Award – 1st Place

Gold Award – 2nd Place

Silver Award – 3rd Place

Applying is simple. You’ll answer five straightforward questions highlighting your company’s commitment to ethics and best practices.

Application deadline: August 28, 2026, at 4:00 PM (Late applications will not be judged.)

Eligibility

• Must be a current Accredited Business of BBB Rio Grande Valley at the time of application and at the time of the Awards 
• Past winners must wait two years before reapplying

Judging Process

To ensure impartiality and credibility, no BBB staff or Board members participate in the selection process. All applications are independently reviewed and scored by judges from the UTRGV School of Business.

Awards Luncheon

Winners will be honored at a special luncheon on Wednesday, November 4th.

We are proud to celebrate the recipients of the 2025 BBB Ethics Awards – Honoring Mary G. Moad, a prestigious recognition for businesses that demonstrate an unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity in the marketplace.

This coveted award is not given lightly—it is earned through a rigorous self-nomination process open to all BBB Accredited Businesses within the BBB Serving South Texas region. Applicants submit written responses to five in-depth questions, which are then reviewed and scored by volunteer judges from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s College of Business & Entrepreneurship.

This year’s winners were announced at a special luncheon held on Wednesday, November 5th at Old Church Winery in McAllen, in partnership with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.

The applicants included, in alphabetical order, Atlas Electric, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Plumbing Services, Inc.; Armored Painting; Bison Roofing; Casa de Palmas, Trademark Collection by Wyndham; El Chamizal Construction LLC; Hamlin Pools; Home Tax Solutions; Lone Star National Bank; Saltillo Tile and Texas Prime Homes, LLC.

Congratulations again to our outstanding award recipients! Comments from the judges:

First Place “Platinum Award” was presented to Rebecca Palacios, VP of Sales of Home Tax Solutions. It is a BBB Accredited since October 17, 2015, and was established in July 2011. The company demonstrates a clear commitment to ethical practices and strong roots in the RGV community. The motto that "every complaint is an opportunity to get better" reflects a strong growth mindset and top recognition.  Since 2018, the employees of the firm have volunteered 2300 hours and donated more than $65,000 to the local community. This is good housekeeping, and the numbers are impressive.

Second Place “Gold Award” was presented to Sarah Sagredo-Hammond, President of Atlas Electric, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Plumbing Services, Inc. It is a BBB Accredited since July 24, 2009, and was established in January 1983. The company treats its employees as family, demonstrates exceptional ethical practices and community engagement, making them a standout for one of the top spots.

Third Place “Silver Award” was presented to Juan Adame, Owner of Texas Prime Homes, LLC. It is a BBB Accredited since April 26, 2017, and was established in April 2015. The company’s shows a solid emphasis on fairness, customer satisfaction, and financial accountability. The “Client Protection Promise” and transparent contracts stand out among this year’s top contenders.
