About BBB Shred Day

BBB’s Shred Day is a free community service that helps individuals and small businesses safely dispose of paperwork containing personal or sensitive data. From old tax records and bank statements to medical bills, shredding keeps your private information out of the wrong hands.

What can't be shredded

  • X-rays
  • Photographs
  • Binders (Take shred material out)

What needs to be shredded

Shred-it Checklist | Bring up to TWO garbage bags or banker boxes

  • Documents that include Social Security numbers, birthdates, PIN numbers or passwords
  • Banking documents and other financial information
  • Leases, contracts or letters that include signatures
  • Pre-approved credit card applications
  • Medical or dental bills
  • Travel itineraries
  • Used airline tickets
