Character
For Travis and the whole team at T Bare Roofing, the commitment to integrity and quality is extra high because his name is on every truck and yard sign. Travis and the other members of the leadership team spend a substantial amount of time out in the field with the salespeople and work crews to keep an eye on how things are on the frontlines, quickly fix any issues that arise, and remind employees that the management and office staff have their back. Employees are well educated in specific unethical practices that T Bare will not tolerate, including paying insurance deductibles (illegal under Colorado law) and saying a roof needs to be replaced when it does not.
Culture
To increase employees' voice in the company, Travis created The Board, composed of two office staff, the general manager, and four members of the sales team. The Board meets weekly to discuss challenges, identify areas where individuals need additional help, and brainstorm ways to improve the company. The Board also handles anonymous suggestions and feedback from a box in the company's main sales room. Employees can also grow through the "Jedi Ascension Program," which rewards employees not only for hitting sales goals but also for completing tasks such as reading specific books, writing essays about the company's values, shadowing (or being shadowed by) other team members, and receiving five-star customer reviews.
Customers
Before a roofing crew is allowed to work on a T Bare Roofing project, Travis invites the crew to their facility in Greeley, where a model roof is set up in the warehouse. Travis then explains and demonstrates how the roof is to be installed according to the manufacturer's specifications, then asks the crew to demonstrate the same. This ensures that all T Bare roofs will be installed properly, which not only protects the reputation of the company but is also necessary for the extended warranties that T Bare can offer. T Bare also uses The Catch-All system on all projects to protect the home's siding and landscaping as well as making cleanup easier and more thorough.
Community
Travis is part of a group of industry leaders in the door-to-door sales industry called D2D Experts. This group has weekly calls as well as retreats that focus on best practices, growing a door-to-door sales business, and leadership. T Bare Roofing has also provided free roofs to individuals such as a local first responder during the COVID-19 pandemic and a single mom whose roof was improperly installed. After a major storm in Wray, Colorado, T Bare provided immediate assistance, including boarding up windows, tarping roofs, and making emergency temporary fixes. T Bare has also worked with Larimer County Natural Resources to clean up campsites and has hosted fundraiser BBQs for victims of wildfires in the area.
