BBB Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming
Lindgren Landscape was founded in 1995 in Fort Collins, CO by Tim Lindgren and his wife Amy. Operating out of their home, Lindgren Landscape has grown steadily over the last almost 30 years to become one of the most respected landscape design and construction firms in the area. Lindgren offers commercial and residential landscape design, construction, and maintenance with an emphasis on creating beautiful and functional outdoor living spaces.
One thing that sets Lindgren Landscape apart from the rest of the industry is the focus on treating landscaping as a profession and a career rather than just a job. While there will always be a need for seasonal workers, Lindgren wants to offer as many options as possible for its employees to build a career in landscaping. To that end when Lindgren hires for year-round roles, there is a focus on ethics and agreeing with the company's core values of integrity, people, teamwork, discipline, professionalism, and leadership.
To ensure continual high character leadership, Lindgren Landscape also invests in training and takes feedback seriously. When managers and employees both discussed concerns about not having sufficient leadership training and experience, Lindgren partnered with HRX, a human resources consulting service, to provide leadership training for managers. This has led to both managers and employees reporting more confidence in leadership skills and better conflict resolution outcomes.
Lindgren Landscape invests heavily in making sure all employees feel a part of the team, and are aware of Lindgren's expectations and values. At the start of each busy season, all employees are invited to a kick-off party with food trucks, team building, and games. New employees also have a session devoted to the company's mission, values, and expectations. Family members are also invited to introduce families to work life and build more personal connections.
Lindgren also focuses on little things to reinforce a culture of professionalism. Employees are expected to keep trucks clean and there are "cleanest truck" competitions regularly during the season. This is to fight against the image of landscaping being associated with dirty and broken equipment. In addition to keeping trucks clean, Lindgren also makes sure equipment is clean, well-maintained, and repaired or replaced quickly if broken or worn out.
Lindgren Landscape prides itself on being a full-service design and build landscaping contractor. While the company will occasionally do a landscape design that another company builds or build another company's design, it generally prefers to work with a customer from the initial concept through design and construction all the way to maintaining (or teaching the customer to maintain) their new outdoor space. Lindgren also makes sure to consider the local environment; since Colorado has a long dormant season for grass and plants, designs should look good throughout the winter and dry months, not just when being watered.
Lindgren also focuses heavily on outdoor living spaces rather than just landscapes. The company has many stories of customers who previously thought of a backyard as simply something that had to be maintained, rather than something to be enjoyed. But after completion of their project with Lindgren, those same customers now see their outdoor space as an extension of their home. This is why Lindgren has repeat customers, sometimes many years later, who come back either for a new renovation or to do landscaping at a new home.
Lindgren Landscape has worked with the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado to donate labor and materials for events, nonprofits, and organizations like the Gardens at Spring Creek. Lindgren also has helped out with specific needs in the area, such as cleanup and repairs following the 2008 Windsor tornado and helping find jobs for refugees from the war in Ukraine.
Lindgren also supports the local landscape industry by donating to Colorado State University's landscape and horticulture department. Lindgren continually hires interns from the department, many of whom have gone on to full-time jobs and careers within Lindgren.
