Recognizing emerging businesses built on trust
The BBB Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship celebrate emerging businesses whose leaders are building their organizations around strong values.
Recipients demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth, create cultures that reflect a meaningful purpose and contribute to the communities that support them.
Businesses do not need to be BBB Accredited to apply, but they must meet the program’s eligibility requirements and be in good standing with BBB.

Purpose-driven entrepreneurs build organizations around more than an opportunity to make a profit. They serve their stakeholders and make intentional decisions that support their mission.
Community
Successful entrepreneurs understand that they are part of a larger community. They support worthwhile causes, build relationships and treat other entrepreneurs and competitors as peers rather than opp
Tell us what makes your business different
No leader or organization is perfect, and every business has its own experiences, challenges and practices.
Applicants are encouraged to provide specific examples that demonstrate how character, culture and community are reflected in the organization’s leadership, decisions, workplace and relationships.
Creativity is welcome, but responses should give the judges a clear and accurate understanding of how these principles are part of the organization’s everyday operations.
Is your business eligible?
Before applying, confirm that your business meets each requirement:
The business is a for-profit organization located within the service area of BBB, N. Colorado & Wyoming.
The business has been operating for at least six months but no more than three years at the time of application.
The business is in good standing with BBB.
The business is meeting its financial obligations.
The business is not a government agency.
There is no cost to apply.
Nonprofit organizations are not currently eligible for the Spark Award.

Confirm your eligibility
Review the eligibility checklist before beginning the application. Contact BBB with any questions about whether your business qualifies.

Complete the application
Answer the questions explaining how your business demonstrates character, builds an authentic culture and contributes to its community.

Add supporting materials
Supporting materials are optional. Include documents, photographs or other materials when they help illustrate the examples and experiences described in your application.

Provide a short video
Submit a 1–2.5 minute video introducing yourself and your business and explaining why you exemplify the spirit of entrepreneurship. Keep it authentic and simple.

Independent judging
An independent volunteer panel of business and community leaders reviews the completed applications.

Recipient recognition
Selected businesses are recognized as Spark Award recipients through BBB, N Colorado & Wyoming at the annual Celebration of Ethics.
