The Northern Colorado Ethical Leader Award is a collaborative effort between the BBB Foundation and the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiatives, in partnership with the College of Business at Colorado State University and the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado.

This collaborative effort will honor a Northern Colorado business leader who exhibits multiple dimensions of ethical leadership and exemplifies a commitment to leadership consistent with the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Principles.

Integrity - Act with honesty in all situations

Trust - Build trust in all stakeholder relationships

Accountability - Accept responsibility for all decisions 

Transparency - Maintain open and truthful communications

Fairness - Engage in fair competition and create equitable and just relationships

Respect - Honor the rights, freedoms, views and property of others

Rule of Law - Comply the with spirit and intent of laws and regulations

Viability - Create long-term value for all relevant stakeholders

Award

The 2nd annual winner of the Northern Colorado Ethical Leader Award will be announced at the BBB Celebration of Ethics scheduled for April 23, 2024, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites, Loveland. 

Eligibility
  • The business the nominee is associated with must be in good standing with BBB (no unresolved or unanswered complaints; at least a rating of “A” or higher, no government actions filed against the business, clear from making false advertising claims).
  • The nominee must own or work for a business located in BBB Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming's service area. To find out if you qualify visit bbb.org/bbb-directory or email jami@wynco.bbb.org.
Judging

Judges will evaluate the nominees on how well their leadership practices reflect each of the eight Daniels Principles. The judging panel will be composed of community leaders, BBB Board Members, and faculty/staff from both CSU and UNC.

Bill Daniels was a visionary business leader whose compassion for people, and unwavering ethics and integrity earned him respect throughout his life. About the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program:

The Collegiate Program drives the strengthening of principle-based ethics education throughout each participating school. The ultimate goal is to instill a high standard of ethics in our young people. To date, more than 450,000 students, faculty, and businesspeople have been reached by the Collegiate Program.
