BBB Wisconsin: About the Scholarships

From eligibility requirements to deadlines, here's the basic information you need to know to apply for our scholarship.

BBB Wisconsin awards scholarships to Wisconsin high school students who have demonstrated character, leadership, and ethical values. The scholarships are awarded for post-high school education at any Wisconsin-based accredited college beginning in the fall of 2024, including community colleges/technical colleges. Rather than focusing on grades or extracurricular activities, the BBB scholarship is primarily based on an essay which must convey how the student has experienced and dealt with an ethical dilemma. As the scholarship recipients pursue their careers, BBB Wisconsin hopes to develop future business leaders who will promote ethics in the Wisconsin marketplace.

Funding for the BBB Students of Integrity Scholarship Program is provided by the generous support of donors to Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin Foundation.

Scholarship Amount

In 2024, there will be a total of 15 scholarships, each in the amount of $2,500. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, the student must:

  • Be a high school senior  
  • Be a Wisconsin state resident    
  • Have a 3.0 or show GPA improvement consistently over time    
  • Plan to attend a Wisconsin-based accredited Higher Education Institution (2 or 4 year)

Judging Criteria

Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges comprised of Wisconsin business leaders and members of the academic community, and scored based on five elements: 

  1. Essay (60%)
  2. Letters of reference (20%)
  3. Academics (10%)
  4. Community involvement/employment (5%)
  5. And first generation (5%)

At least 2 of the scholarships will be awarded to students in the Milwaukee Public School District and at least 2 of the scholarships will be awarded to students planning to attend a 2-year college in Wisconsin.
