Across the U.S., people lose more than $10 Billion each year to scams. Our community isn’t immune to the impact. In 2024:

• A Kalamazoo woman reported being scammed out of $2,000 on Facebook Marketplace.
• A Battle Creek man lost $8,000 in an online loan scam.
• A Battle Creek woman reported losing $5,000 in a romance scam.

These are just a couple of the many examples we hear of every day.

The Better Business Bureau knows the personal impact these loses have for families, and the impact is has on our marketplace when that money goes to criminals instead of local businesses.

Your support of the BBB Educational Foundation (501c3) is helping protect the most vulnerable in our community. Our free fraud presentations in schools and senior centers give people the tools and resources to avoid these scams before they lose their money.

Our BBB Educational Foundation Golf Outings help raise critical funds to support and expand these programs in the community, and keep them free to all who attend.
