BBB Cincinnati Spark Awards application information
The BBB Spark Awards is for entrepreneurs, business owners, and startup founders 35 years old or younger + business owners of any age with businesses in operation 3 years or less. Through the Spark Awards, BBB shines a light on businesses that have character-driven leaders and positive workplace cultures, and give back to the community.
Eligibility & criteria
The 2025 Spark Awards is open to for-profit organizations of all sizes located within BBB Cincinnati’s 22-county service area.* Applications open in spring 2025.
Applicants must meet one or both of these requirements:
- A business owner of ANY age with a business that has been established within the last 3 years (36 months)
- An entrepreneur, business owner, or startup founder 35 years of age or younger
Additional applicant information:
- Government agencies and nonprofits are NOT eligible.
- BBB Accreditation is not required but businesses must have at least a “B” rating with BBB.
- Applicants must have met financial obligations and have no government actions.
*The 22-county service area includes:
- Indiana: Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, Switzerland, Union
- Kentucky: Boone, Campbell, Kenton
- Ohio: Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Gallia, Hamilton, Highland, Jackson, Pike, Lawrence, Scioto, and Warren (except the following zip codes: 45005, 45066, and 45068)
Judging process
Entries are evaluated by an independent panel of volunteer judges comprised of business and community leaders.
Your written submission should provide a robust and accurate depiction of your organization's focus on character, culture, customers/clients, and community, including examples, stories, and documents,.
Supporting documents and attachments can range from handbooks and internal documentation to photos from events. These are not required but are highly recommended to show judges how your organization supports company culture, customers/clients, and community involvement.
