Since coming to the BBB in 1981, Mr. Sanders began his career in the mail room; 25 years later, he was elected as the Executive Vice President, and in 2005 to his current position as President & CEO.

In 1989, Mr. Sanders graduated from the Council of Better Business Bureaus Executive Development Institute and also earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives. On June 12, 2003 Mr. Sanders graduated from the FBI's Citizens' Academy.

In the fall of 1995, Mr. Sanders was instrumental in the creation and development of the official website of the Better Business Bureau serving Eastern Massachusetts, Maine & Vermont. It is because of Mr. Sanders’ technical expertise that your BBB is the innovative leader in technological advances throughout the BBB system. An updated web site was launched in December 2001 and won a prestigious award as Best BBB Website in 2002 from the Council of Better Business Bureaus.

Mr. Sanders has served as Chair on the Council of Better Business Bureau’s Technology Committee, Bureau Operations Committee, Internet Task Force, Ratings Committee, Digital Management Committee, Standard Reporting Language Committee, Website Re-Design Committee, Domain Name Committee, Council Board of Directors and Council Executive Committee. Mr. Sanders hyper focused on innovation to provide better services to businesses and consumers.

Mr. Sanders is currently on the BBB System AI Task Force. In addition he has written numerous white papers on how BBB can leverage AI and for BBB content to be discovered by AI LLMs.

Over the past year, Mr. Sanders has spearheaded a major artificial intelligence initiative at BBB Eastern New England, driving productivity and operational efficiency across the organization. By integrating cutting-edge AI tools and custom automation into our workflows, he has empowered our staff with smarter resources and delivered enhanced value to our members. To date, he has personally developed over 100 AI-powered applications designed to streamline processes, solve complex business challenges, and keep the BBB team ahead of the technology curve.

Mr. Sanders earned a Cum Laude Masters of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Maine. He attended Saint John's High School in Shrewsbury, MA. He resides in the community of Marlborough with his wife. They have three wonderful children. He enjoys outdoor activities, including walking on the beach with his wife Patty, biking, hiking and of course fishing.
