I get a letter in the mail from Conn's stating that based upon my credit report that I met criteria to be Pre Approved for $2081. I made sure to read the fine print to make sure it wasn't just some pre screening pre qualification process like some other creditors send people confusing pre-screening/ pre qualify with pre-approved. My credit score since then has gone up. So I go to one of their stores only to find out that a wasn't approved after all. It was at the very least embarrassing and disappointing. It is also very misleading and a clear example of false advertisement. There are supposed to be laws that protect the consumer from such misleading and shady types of business practices. When one is pre approved then they are pre-approved for the time that the pre-approval offer is good for. Which I did try to use the pre-approval before the expiration date. It didn't say anywhere on that letter about the pre-approval not meaning anything else but pre approved. It is a waste of time, efforts and credit to use su h misleading tactics..It is a down right Lie. If they don't honor the pre-approval then my next action will be to the consumer protection agency and the state attorney generals office to put a stop to such misleading practices. If they want customers to trust them they need to honor such offers and not try to use such excuses as trying to say that people no longer meet their criteria. What do they have to say when my credit has risen over 60 points in the past 6 months. I've never heard getting denied or no longer meeting the pre-approval criteria when the credit score increases on all three credit reporting agencies. There is not excuse for being denied. They need to have Integrity. If they keep up such lies then eventually they will end up destroying their reputation and then eventually closed their doors.
