I was a customer with ******* Home Services for 28 years before they were purchased by Petro. I have been with Petro since February 2024 and it has been a disaster. 1. In February, I didn't receive a scheduled oil delivery. It took them 10 days to come back. There was an 1/8" of snow on my driveway and the driver was afraid to drive on it. 2. In June I had some major work done to my chimney by Petro. I paid them via credit card the next day. They applied the money to the wrong account. It took 2 1/2 months and 4 phone calls to get the money moved to the right account. During that time, they were sure to call me reminding me my account was past due. 3. I had a furnace repair done. Had to listen to the technician curse because he didn't know what he was doing. 4. I learned today that my maintenance contracts were far more comprehensive with ******* and cost the same amount as the basic contracts with Petro. The contracts I had with ******* were 24/7 Emergency service, with Petro, they were M-F, 8-5. 5. Called for oil prices today. Petro quoted $4.93 guaranteed delivery. Called another company and the price with $2.79 with a cap of $3.09 Guess who isn't a Petro customer anymore.Petro Response

“We have reviewed customer’s complaint in depth and regret any frustration or inconvenience experienced. Petro values each and every customer and Mr. L**’s experience clearly did not live up to our standards. We have taken appropriate steps to ensure this does not occur in the future.”Review from Joshua M

I have been a customer of Carrolls for about 8 years. I have been paying $688 /month for their maintenance plan for my two HVAC systems the past 3 or 4 years. I have been without Air Conditioning on my 2nd floor for a month. I had them out around June 20th. The tech said he fixed it. 5 days later it stopped working. I called to have them back out on June 27th. They never showed up. I rescheduled them to come out on July 3rd. They told me they needed a new part ( fan motor). I scheduled them to come out the following week, and took off work to be here to meet them. They never showed or called. I called them and they said the tech went to pick up the part and it had not come in. Thanks for the heads up! After a little nagging, they called me a week later to tell me the part was in. I was going out of town for the week. I called three days later to schedule them to come out when I returned home, and they said the part had not come in. Wasn't the part in three days ago? I had them scheduled for today btwn 12-4. They showed up at 9:30 this morning when nobody was home. Then they tell me they will be out btwn. 12-3. Nobody shows up. I called them at 4:00 and they said they would be here in 30 minutes. That was two hours ago. At this point it feels like they are just messing with me. I made it 44 years without ever writing a BBB complaint. But a month without A/C in July and a completely indifferent attitude from this company warrants one.Review from Leilani A

I was a customer with Carroll Home Services for over 30 years. In the last year the service and oil delivery became awful. We purchased the service plans for our systems and were generally okay with it. This past January our heat and hot water (boiler) stopped. We called for service and a guy was supposed to show up the next day. The next day it got later and later, they assured us that he was coming. Then we were told he wouldn't be coming, and that he'd be there "first thing in the morning". . The next day comes, we wait and wait, call and call. We keep being assured that the tech will be coming by. Then we got an email update that he had been here (!!!!), reset the furnace, and all was well. We called Carroll Home Services and asked what was going on, they weren't sure. They said someone else must have closed the ticket, so they'd create a new ticket. They created a new ticket, but the tech couldn't come out until the next day. The next day came. Same thing, calling through day, finally in late night (9 pm) a tech shows up and determines that WE HAVE NO OIL! We had automatic delivery, after looking back on the last delivery we found it was in APRIL! We had NO oil delivery for 9 months. The tech added 5 gallons and scheduled a delivery for Monday. Monday no oil, it will be delivered tomorrow. Tuesday no oil, can't do it until Thurs. Thurs we got the oil. We CANCELED our automatic delivery and all service contracts with them. Their (high pressire) "retention specialist" told me that I was entitled to a prorated refund of the service contract. After 6 weeks I haven't received the refund and I can't get any response to my email contact with them. I'm contacting them via email for records on this fiasco. After I get a refund I want my account eliminated from their system, I want no further business with them.Petro Response

Absolutely the worst! They do not honor the contract or agreements that they put in place. On multiple occassions they have over delivered oil deliveries. I have had to have them come to take back what they over delivered. This last time they said that they would come back to get the over delivery and NEVER did. Instead I got a $1500 bill due to their mistake. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.Petro Response

Beware! They are terrible. They don't know how to actually fix anything correctly. The workers are just plain dumb or drunk. Fuel delivery is fast and easy, but they have been over charging and making our units worse, so they told us we needed a whole new system. Also they sometimes do not show up at all, even though we had an appointment. We called another company, they came right out , looked at the unit with the naked eye, and saw the leak in the furnace right away. Fuel had been leaking out for months costing us thousands of dollars. Please do not continue with this company on a good list. Help the consumer and prevent this Carroll Home Services from doing this to other customers. My husband is an engineer and contractor and can not believe how lousy this company is. I would leave no stars if I could. Thank you!Review from Vic P

Trash is too kind a description for this unethical and unsafe company. We were automatic delivery customers for about a year and before Christmas we were low on oil. For the first time ever Petro notified us that they would fill our tank in the next few days. We thought great, and went about our lives. Never got an invoice or any communication that they actually came but we thought- hey holidays. Between Christmas and New Years our heat went off and our tank read as empty. When I called to ask what had happened with the oil delivery we had been notified of- I was told they had delivered and would have to pay $100 for a service visit since I "didn't have proof they did something wrong". Okay. Found the tank had a leak and the oil they "claimed to have delivered-they told us must have spilled under our house". I was told I would get a call from Petro. Petro never reached out, left us without heat and hot water in the middle of winter, notified the government that we had an oil spill (then stopped answering the government calls), and said we had to sign saying we didn't hold them responsible if we wanted them to install a new tank. I called multiple times and was promised multiple calls from supervisors that never came. It took over a week for a call and the supervisor had no information or knowledge about the situation. I requested a written report about why the delivery didn't meet minimum standards, what safety checks Petro has in place before delivery, a written report from the the service visit I paid for detailing findings, the bill from claimed delivery (yes I had to request it), Petro's license number to do this work- a week later they sent the bill and refused to answer any further questions. Weeks and many emails later I never got answers and they said they would no longer help or talk to me I had to go through their insurance. But they started mailing bills- I paid so we wouldn't be sent to collections. We had to pay over $15k to deal with the oil spill etc.Review from John D

This company has a huge problem. Their skilled technicians keep leaving and they are left with lightly skilled and lightly experienced people. Their technicians do not know the furnaces, have poorly equipped trucks with parts and equipment to perform the service. GOD forbid you try to speak with someone who is an executive or even a supervisor to give constructive feedback because they do not exist. I have requested to speak with an executive or supervisor and no one will come to the phone. It used to be a good company providing skilled and timely service, but now it is just a t-shirt company.Petro Response

They suck! I was on auto refill, prices went up they let me run dru and when I called to refill they charged me almost 7.00/ gallon when I asked them to come take it away because of the cost I was told they do not do that. Its a bait and switch game! Every one else is getting 5-6.00/ gallon . They let me me run out then robbed meReview from Evelyn B.

On July 14, 2022 I called Carrol Home Service to check out the prices of their oil and service. I spoke with Kathleen S*******. I thought we were just discussing the costs and programs they had. In that discussion I told her if I did go with their company I would not need oil until the end of October. I did not know I was signing up for their service. I was not told I was being recorded. Kathleen sent me their "contract", once again I reviewed but no were to sign. After looking over the documents she sent, I contacted another oil company to compare prices. The other company was over $1.00 a gallon cheaper. I contacted Kathleen S******* on July 18th to tell her I decided to go with another company. She responded with "may I ask why" I responded found a lower price. She responded with We already set up your account. I can try to match the rate you were quoted. I responded with I have not signed a contract and do not wish to use your company. She responded that I would need to call the corporate office. I did and spoke with Debra who said she had to contact the agent that signed me up. I told Debra that Kathleen said I had to call the corporate office. When I got home on July 18th, 170 gallons of oil was delivered to my home without my knowledge. There was a bill on my door for $870.00. I had to call the company I did decide to go with to let them know. Ok a difference of $173.00. I contacted Kathleen again and she responds with after speaking with her manager she could give me a discount for the delivery of $88.45. What part of I don't want to use your service don't they understand. I responded with if someone from your company comes on my property I will have them arrested for trespassing. I want them to stop contacting me. I do not want their service. I want $173.00 for the difference. I am not paying $870.00. I will pay $697. what the other company quoted me.Review from Sheila V

I would give zero stars if I could. My husband called to get a price on propane for a pool heater. Was told by Mary that he would get a call back. Never did. He called again and some guy said "I spoke with your wife." NO. No you did not. So my husband spoke with this Petro rep and was told they would send someone to the property to see the location of where we want the tanks and make sure they could be placed there. I then get in touch with Mary to discuss pricing and we decided that their fuel charges were too high compared to other businesses. I thanked her for her time. Fast forward 2 weeks and we receive a bill in the mail for a line test they performed when at my house. NOT ONE Petro rep that we spoke with EVER said that when they go to my house, they were going to do a test NOR DID THEY REQUEST PERMISSION TO DO IT AS THEY SHOULD HAVE SINCE THERE IS A FEE INVOLVED. The just took it upon themselves TO SPEND MY MONEY FOR THEIR BENEFIT. STAY AWAY FROM PETRO AND THEIR UNDERHANDED TACTICS.
