    Consent Judgment

    The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

     On January 6, 2023 HomeServe entered into a Consent Judgment with the Kansas Attorney General and Sedgwick County District Attorney that settles allegations HomeServe offered electrical home repair plans that failed to provide a material benefit to consumers and made material misrepresentations. Under terms of the Judgment, HomeServe has agreed to pay $500,000 to the State of Kansas, and agreed to pay $350,000 for consumer restitution. Further, HomeServe will ensure that future solicitations using a third-party logo has clear and conspicuous language disclosing that HomeServe is an independent company separate from third party whose logo is used, that the third party is being compensated for use of said logo, and clarification that the repair plans being offered are being done so by HomeServe. The Judgment was for settlement purposes only and should not be considered as an admission of guilt or finding of violation of the law.       This is the most unprofession company that I have dealt with in a long time. I have been lied to, finessed, and price gauged by the tech that they sent out and the company seems to be in on it. My water heater went out on me 2 WEEKS ago and Home Serve sent out 2 plumbers from a local company and they gave me a quote on fixing my water heater and automatically added some line that was and is totally unnecessary. They are talking about some codes they had to honor, however, the codes are different for an unfinished basement. I told them that I am disabled and I live on a fixed income and could only afford whatever the warranty could provide. They sat in my driveway and came back with a quote of $1500 to replace the water heater and an additional $425 out of pocket which I do not have. i requested a second opinion because all I need is my water heater replaced and nothing more. The code they are speaking of does not apply to me and my situation and I feel like they are just trying to run my bill up unnecessarily. Their representatives have finessed and told me misleading things that I feel are just to pressure me into accepting the price with the extra money. I am totally disappointed and pissed off. I can't wash my clothes, dishes and clean as I should be able to do if my water heater was working properly. I feel that their warranty is a scam! it's been 2 whole weeks and they have done nothing to resolve this problem. They just keep pushing me to wait on the contractor and I am left at the mercy of the price gouging quotes! I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was told thatbit would be 24 hours before they would get back with me. I thought the customer was always right! All I need is my water heater fixed.. That's it! This is something that I have paid into for years and I keep getting the run around! I am very upset with this company!
