Won’t release my title after 60 days after I transfer funds from an internal account. No other bank I have worked with has a policy like this. I have paid off large amounts real estate etc. from ACH to wire and no “bank” cares except this one. I am trying to run away as fast as I can. In my opinion this is experience is worse than a bank.CEFCU Response

Steve in the auto loan department is such a blessing to CEFCU. He has a kind voice in stressful situations and gives the best customer service they have had in a long time. He is terrific at his job and deserves recognition from CEFCU for his diligence.CEFCU Response

Went to the Ofallon, Illinois location. The manager needs to take a class in customers service. A dog was treated better than me. I made arrangements to pay a payment and was 2 dollars and eighty cents short. This lady treated me like trash Omg. I pray to my God in Heaven she never encounters a person like herself.Review from Jessica C

Horrible mortgage lender! Will not recommend! We built our brand new home two years ago and used CEFCU as our mortgage lender. Fast forward to the last two years in our home. Our first monthly payment (we later learned) was based on a tax estimate of land only. We were not aware of this estimate and this is not how things are done in our state. This caused our payment to increase by over $200 a month more than our original monthly mortgage payment. Second year in our home, we received another letter from CEFCU stating that our mortgage payment will be increasing another $400 per month due to CEFCU figuring our monthly payment on a partial year's taxes. When we entrusted CEFCU to budget with our family, we expected they would not place our family in a harmful financial situation. As our financial institution and the individuals we entrusted in our finances, we are deeply disappointed in the ethical and moral beliefs of this company.Review from Diamone F

Fell on hard times, missed 3 months of payments. Once I got back on my feet was able to make payments. Went into branch in Springfield IL because there are no branches in Cook County,IL to collect my dividends. Was surprised to receive my dividends due to missed payments and delinquency. Bank teller had to confirm with the collection department. Woman spoke to me as if I did something to her. Tried to explain to her that I make payments via CEFCU app because there are no branches in the Chicago area, she yelled at me and stated she did not care. Threatened to repossess my car. WELL I remained calm was able to collect my dividends and was assured by one of the on site CSR to continue what I've been doing and I was fine. Communication is a part listening as well. CEFCU call center members DO NOT LISTEN. CEFCU needs to revisit their insure quality and doing a massive sweeping. HIRE PEOPLE WITH ACTUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLSReview from Isabella C

App *****, has taken money from me and when I tried to call about it the collections worker was extremely rude and made no effort in trying to figure out the problem. If I could give it one star I would.Review from VICTORIA S

Communication is CEFCU does not help their customers at all, they are worse than a bank. I had a mortgage with CEFCU and I first tried to get a second mortgage with them on the house which they said I didnt have enough equity in the house this was in 2018. That is fine, but then about 1 year later I was having problems keeping up with the house. After calling them they said they would work with me to doing a short sale, or other options, this was the last time I actually taked to a non-recording of a person until 2023. I would call on my lunch break, then they would call back when I was at work and leave messages. In this time I had to organize getting an inspector to my house for a house valuation or something, which the first person just didnt show up. So I had to call back, and they said that person didn't want to do it, they would have to get another one. The only reason I found out about this is by calling them, they didnt call me. The house valuation took over 8 months, and this was for a mortgage in-lieu of deed. After that, they ruled that i could sell it as a short sale, by letter... when I told them I couldn't sell it. After about another 2 months, They sent me another letter saying they would do a mortgage in-lieu of deed but I would still owe half of the mortgage, but that would just be straight unsecured debt, and they said this was the last they would talk to me about it, all through mail. After this I only received letters and lawyer stuff about foreclosure. I ended with me declaring bankruptcy, and CEFCU foreclosing, then canceling the foreclosure, then just leaving the property with a huge lein on it. So, if you ever get a mortgage, don't get it from CEFCU, they will make it a mission to not communicate, and make your already hard time even harder.Review from Antoinette H

I have been trying to have my CEFCU master card replaced for over a month. I have called the credit card people 7 times. The first three times, they said it would come in 7 days. No card. Then, a credit card associate finally admitted it was lost. He said it would be Fed exed. It wasn't. My most recent transaction said it would arrive last Wednesday. It didn't. I have been an excellent CEFCU member of over 40 years. Something is very wrong with the credit card department. I am removing my credit card business from them.Review from Rebecca H

They closed two of my checking accounts for their error. The first time was about a year ago. I had deposited money for bills. Thank God I saved the receipt. When I saw this account was closed I confronted them, they claimed no knowledge of any transactions or deposits and my account was over-drafted. Then I showed them the receipt and they treated it like it was just an oopsie moment. They offered to open a new checking account, which I did. I had savings and a checking account where money from savings would be transferred over for overdraft if I didn't catch it. On a Thursday, I noticed my accounts were frozen. I had just gone through major fraud charges and I just assumed something like that had happened to freeze the account. I called Cefcu and between being put on hold and the right people not being in till Monday, 5 days went by. On Monday, they fixed the freeze but had no idea why the account was closed and to go to a local branch. When I went to a local branch they said it was close to being overdrawn for too long. When I asked how because it is hooked up to my savings and there is plenty of money in savings and my account was on hold for 5 days only. The reply was that they could see how this was frustrating. After contacting a manager online with no response and a local manager with no response, I am disgusted with the lack of accountability and bad business practice, and poor customer service at Cefcu.
