I have hired J and J builders to change my old shingles. It was in the fall of November 2021. On the first Spring, i noted ****** right away that there was a leak at my office. ****** responded and looked at the complain. It never leaked in my office since we bought the house. Following that year 2023 my office and now this time my kitchen is having a leak. I noted ****** that the Leaks are getting more serious. The Roof project was paid in full and is settled.

He said that he will correct as much as he can but some materials will need to get paid for. It should in fact be covered by the contractor's warranty. The leak happened less than 6 months since the new shingles was installed. In the years since we had purchased the family home (August 2011), we never had a back to back leaks from spring .
****** Submitted a quote to *** and was approved. Separately, there was quote that i was seeking for remedy particularly the Labor amounting to $**** out of $******.
****** began telling me and i quote "that i should find a different contractor if you so choose. You seem to know more than i do. So i don't think it will work to work for you".

This statement was shortly made after the Quote was approved by *** for the repair which he had agreed to committing to do the job. As a client, i was merely making a suggestion for the best interest of my home. A threat of having to find another contractor after a quote was approved by *** is very unprofessional and unfair. The timeline for getting this job done is limited for me to seek a new contractor and having to go through another quote could compromise my claim with ***. Currently my premium with *** has gone up because of the claim and will be paying $*** deductible for the quoted work.

Hi.  I am sorry that she has decided to go this route. I never told her that I wouldn't do the job. I told her she could hire someone else if she so chose as she was telling me my labor was too high. And also that the flashing needed to be on top of the shingles instead of beneath. This may or may not be true, as the flashing is old and been reused, thus it has many holes in it. I had told her when we did the roof that ideally the stucco should be removed so that we could replace the flashing that went up under the stucco. She was contemplating residing the house anyways. But in the end she said she really couldn't afford it and asked if it would be okay to just reuse the flashing. I told her that I could not promise anything, but we could try. I was hopeful, but in the end the flashing has failed. The customer has become prone to outbursts of anger which makes it unpleasant to deal with. I am not being difficult with her, but if she would rather get someone else, I won't insist on us doing the work. I left it in her hands. She got upset right away. Maybe she misunderstood me, I am not sure. I'd appreciate if she would try to work together rather than get angry and quit talking.

Last summer I had asked to meet with her and I was planning to try to remedy the leak problem. I tried arranging to meet with her and discuss, but she wanted me to come during her dog grooming hrs. and I didn't appreciate the dogs barking and her helper being there and then try to discuss roof while she worked. I told her if she didn't have a some free time to discuss then I wasn't interested. She said she would get someone else. Then this spring she contacted me again. The other contractors (which were several weren't willing for some reason to help her. So I chose to try again and went and measured up and sent in a quote which was approved. I told her that I was very happy for her. I didn't really expect insurance to accept all that she asked me to include. But they did, and then she started complaining about the labor quote and telling how to fix the problem. I know she thinks she knows, but I know the problem is the old flashing is an incorrect flashing for where it is used. It needs a step flashing instead of a one piece flashing. Her roof has a lot of heat loss and ice damming is a major issue. She says the roof never leaked before but she told me it had one year soon after they bought the house. The 2 winters that the roof leaked we had a lot of snow and very cold temperatures. The perfect recipe for ice damming issues. This last winter it never leaked. It was milder and less snow.

The long and short, I am still willing to help her with the work. I only ask her to be humble and trust me. I have a very solid reputation and I don't enjoy having an unhappy customer.  ****** ***** owner of J&J Builders

As previously stated in my complain, that all i needed in this matter is to get the job done. I did requested for the time and date for the job. I prefer to communicate through BBB at this point. I do not necessarily have to be around to finish the job. I can make arrangements to have someone be present while the work is getting done. This will allow for everyone to work with less conflict and safety. I hope that this request is respected. Thank you.

I will say that as I said before if Francis wants me to do the job she will need to be able to deal with me. I'm under no obligation to do this job. I don't worry about her bad review because the truth stands. Time is running out. I'm very busy and the windows are not ordered yet. If she does not hurry and make arrangement etc. with me, this job won't happen this year.
