On February 13, 2020 my business (***** *** ***.) signed a contract with a website development company (Web Geeks) to get a full and complete e-commerce website done. The full project had a cost of $18,000 Net. Web Geeks required us to put a down payment of $15,000 before the project began. We paid Web Geeks the $15,000 deposit. Over the course of the next 12+ months not only did we NOT receive a full and complete website from Web Geeks, but we were lied to, taken advantage of and this entire project dragged on until we finally had no choice other than to move on from Web Geeks to another company. We of course needed to get the project completed and all Web Geeks did was give us excuse after excuse and reasons why this couldn't work and why that couldn't work, why this it's taking a bit longer to do etc... ***PLEASE READ THE REST IN THE UPLOADED WORD DOCUMENT***Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/06/01) */ Web Geeks finished development of the website and was in final rounds of testing when client indicated they wanted to contract with a new company to facilitate ongoing changes and support. On the clients request we provided them with entire website (files and database). In addition we have continued hosting the site for them while they worked out what they wanted to do going forward. Until hearing of this complaint we had no idea that ******** decided to rebuild the site. Because we did build and deliver the site we do not feel it is appropriate that we pay the non-refundable deposit back. We have not asked for the balance of the contract. Please note that in addition to the website build, we provided branding and video development at no extra charge. The client was delivered these items as well. I assume the delivered site, designs and branding items would have been utilized in the development of anything new. Please let me know if there are any other questions or concerns. Also, let us know if we should cancel the hosting of the current site. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/06/09) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) First off, we feel that because they were paid up front, WebGeeks did not seem to have time or care to work on the project. They 100% took advantage of us because of inexperience in website design. WebGeeks quoted $18,000 cost and requested $15,000 down-payment (Net/0) before even starting work (not proper business practice). There were delays after delays, missed deadline after missed deadline. The contract was signed February 13, 2020 and payment of $15,000 by bank draft was made February 18, 2020. We feel that this was far and away the #1 problem as to why they never completed the project for us as laid out in many conversations we had with them and more importantly, in the contract. Once they got payment from us, they were on to other customers to get 'new money' coming in. ***** *** was put on the backburner. WebGeeks claims they "build and deliver the site" for us - this is so far from the truth and is simply them making an effort to sound like the innocent party.
