      Marcus m. of kaza finishing was hired by my kitchen cabinet company ***** ** *** ***************** to paint our kitchen cabinet doors made of MDF and the existing cabinet frame. Marcus offered that he could do the job in the week of December 6, 2024 but to do so demanded an initial deposit of $1500. When December arrived, he did not respond to emails, phone calls or texts. He was completely incommunicado as noted in other reviews. After indicating that he was going to come and then an excuse repeated multiple times.
      In the end there has been only about one day of on-site work. The taping job consisted of a 3” band of **** tape which was inadequate to prevent paint getting on the floors! Primer was never used on new MDF leaving the surface rough and getting paint on the wood floors.
      KAZA finishing refused to return the doors until they were paid for 85% of the work as per Marcus’ request. Upon pickup he increased this to 90%! No primer was used on the kitchen frame or the new MDF doors! Primer on the kitchen frames and doors could not be sanded because it was paint and came off like a peel.
      Kaza and Marcus is a company that will ask you for a deposit to book a specific time and will not honour it. They will not answer your surgeons to contact them. They will not refund your deposit ** ***** ** ***** *******. Finally their work is incredibly substandard. Marcos claimed to be licensed by “finishing school association” which believe it not doesn’t exist! We paid over $4500 for work that will now be done by **** professionals and relieved and happy to not deal with him anymore. KAZA had the audacity to ask me to sign a letter that I would not leave a bad review!!

      On April 29 I e-transferred Kaza Refinishing $1160.09 because that was the 25% required as indicated by Kaza Invoice #********.
      That’s when everything changed.
      No email, text, or phone call to indicate receipt of funds. No invoice provided. At which point I got a little spooked and started calling. No answer. I sent an email requesting a receipt. No response. Finally I got Marcus on the phone and he said he would forward an invoice. He eventually emailed an image of the Kaza logo and a dollar amount, but not an official receipt or invoice.
      The job was supposed to start on July 19, 2024. In May, I emailed and asked for confirmation. No response. I emailed again. No response. Eventually Marcus called me and said that he prefers the phone to email. I wonder why. I asked for written confirmation and he became agitated and confrontational.
      I could document/post every single rambling, dishonest exchange that I had with Marcus over the last four months (I still have all the emails, text messages, voicemails, voice memos, phone records, etc.), but the bottom line is this:
      In my experience, Marcus and Kaza Refinishing are profoundly unreliable, unprofessional, and *********.
      Marcus says he will get back to you, and he doesn’t. Marcus says the job will start at this date, and it doesn’t (broken part, sick leave, employee quitting, etc. *** ******* ****** ********** ******** ****************** ******** ********* Marcus says he will email you when he gets to the office, and he doesn’t. Marcus says he will send you a ridiculous 30% partial refund of your deposit (“Guaranteed. Definitely. I promise. Just need a few days to take care of you.”), and he doesn’t.
      Marcus and Kaza Refinishing absolutely cannot be ******* or relied on. Marcus and Kaza Refinishing will take your deposit and then treat you like a pest for expecting basic customer service, follow through, or professionalism.

      Our kitchen is only 11 years old and a beautiful maple, so we didn’t want to demo the whole thing. We decided to do update and freshen it up, as it was an antiqued white that had yellowed over time. A friend had recommended Kaza Refinishing, and the price was just right. We chose a brighter white and updated the hardware, which was just enough to give it the lift it needed. Marcus knows his stuff and very helpful in choosing the right colour. Overall the experience was good and his staff was very nice from tear down to the final completion. I would recommend KAZA.

      We just recently got work done by Marcus, the owner, and we were not happy at all. ** *** **** **************. He delayed the job by 4 months before he finally came to check it out, and then told us it would take 2 weeks time, but that turned into 4 weeks. Every time he advised he would be coming, he was always late by at least an hour, sometimes without the material too. At one point his employee was here and they were on ******** and he was badmouthing me *** ****** ** ** ******** just because I hadn’t covered something when they said they would. After some of the work was done, I noticed there were mistakes all over the kitchen. He got black paint on our brand new marble counter tops, paint on my appliances and he missed a lot of spots as well. Also, when he asked how I liked the job and to be honest, I told him I’m not impressed and he stormed off. Then he sent me a text asking for the rest of the money when the work wasn’t done and threatened to keep my cupboards with him until I gave the remaining balance. He came back with my cupboards, and tried giving me paint telling me to finish and correct his mistakes. He tried using a solution to take the black paint off my counter, which stained the counter. And there’s still the paint on my appliances. The whole experience *** * ****** *** *** ******** *** very terrible the whole time. I would not recommend anyone using this company. No customer service skills. ** * ***** *** ** * ******
