AM1 Roofing was in my neighbourhood and noticed an issue with my roof (shingles missing after a wind storm). They offered to take a look, for free, and then told me how much it would cost to do the repair while still on my roof, saying they had shingles that would match. When the job was done, quickly, it turns out their hourly rate is something in the neighbourhood of $1,800/hr. Also, the shingles that were to "match" my roof were black - which stand out quite a bit from the grey. They did offer to put others on, but those were brown! It's on me that I didn't negotiate, but I didn't want the issue to grow (water into the attic/house) so I agreed to the price. My biggest pet peeve is that I asked them to provide a receipt, to which they said to email them and they would get back to me. It's been weeks now and no response to my inquiries. So, while they did the work quickly, they overcharged, have ignored my efforts to reach them, and essentially took advantage of the situation. I wouldn't trust them to do any work as they do not operate in an ethical or fair manner.
