Prior to July 10th, ****** sent email that 3G phones were obsolete. They send me a 5G free phone to take to ****** store to put sim car in. Due to high volume, sim card was put in my cell, they said it would cost $75.00 to put info from old phone into new phone. High volume with same issues told couldn't do that, I asked if computer store could to that, yes, ****** employee said. I went to ******* computer, he quoted me $70.00 and he could do the job. The 11th he called me, said phone was ready and to come right away.
He handed me the bill $333.34 in silence. Omg, I went home! He aid he had to keep old phone for 1 week. Saturday, July 12th, I called ******. They said get old phone back and return on Monday to demand phone and let him know he didn't put all on new phone. Monday I was told at 10 am that this response needs more work and would cost me never 1 cent more. I told him. **** **** ******* *** ** ********* *** *** ******

    Business Response

    Date: 24/07/2025

***** did arrive to Main Street Computers however she did not explain herself properly. Allow me to explain:

She explained that ****** could do her phone switch over however they didn't have enough time as there was a long line-up. My rates are $80/hr and she was happy for me to be able to help her out. ***** did explicitly tell me that she didn't want everything transferred from her old phone to her new phone. I examined on her old phone as what needed to be done. I charged her half an hour for that. ($40).

She also wanted a new power adapter for her phone as she didn't bring the proper one in. ($14.99)

As for the work, she did not provide all the details that I needed. It took time for me to figure out her accounts and was never mentioned about her ******** account until after she picked up the phone. Her excuse was that she was 71 years old. I didn't comment on that remark.

It took over 3 hours at $80/hr in order to get her smartphone updated, her apps updated, linking her existing ******* account and setting up her e-mail. I offered to have her ******** setup if she would provide me with her proper username and password and that I would do it at no extra cost. She seems to have declined that request. This is where the bulk of the time was spent ($240).

Every time ***** would say something that would possibly confuse or contradict the situation, she would say that her excuse was that she was 71 years old. She should take responsibility for the situation. I feel bad however more could have been done if there was better communication during the process.

I charged her based on how much time it took me to deal with the customer and the time spent to fix her phone. I told her that I was $80/hr. She told me why I didn't clone her phone. I explained as to why and didn't like the reason. Problem is that was a request of not having everything copied from the old to the new phone. Things aren't automatic and things take time. If this was automated and didn't take much time, then it would have taken less time especially if all account information was provided before the work began.

My offer still stands as she was upset that her ******** wasn't installed with her account however I am not a magician as there was no paperwork or passwords that was provided to me to get her account up and working. This is the reason why I offered to do her ******** account setup if she can find her correct account information and hopefully it's associated with a valid e-mail account or phone number. If ****** wanted to do the work for $70 and that ***** didn't like my rates, I'd be fine with that. However, I'm not okay by having a customer being upset with me after the work was done and paid for and for her giving me the go-ahead to do the work in the first place.

    Thank you.
