Important information
- Believed to be out of business:According to information in BBB files, it appears that this business is no longer in business.
- Additional Info:Global Consumer Survey Reward Services is falsely claiming to be a member of The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). BBB confirmed, on March 4th, 2017, that this company is not a member of FDIC, a US government corporation providing deposit insurance to depositors in US banks.
BBB verified, on March 4th, 2017, that this company is not located at 1217 Walkley Road, in Ottawa Ontario. Although the company is claiming to be located in Canada, consumers are advised to contact an agent, whose telephone number is assigned to an individual in New York.
Consumers are sent a cheque, along with a letter, stating that they are winners of the North American Global Consumers Contest. Consumers are encouraged to contact an agent to initiate their claim process, and activate their cheque. They are instructed to send a portion of their winnings, via postal money order, or money transfer, to cover the cost of a non-resident transit fee. Global Consumer Survey Reward Services is claiming to be mandated to pay the winnings, as the sole agent of Publishers Clearing House, Readers Digest, and Mega Choice Rewards. BBB advises that known lottery and sweepstakes companies such as Reader's Digest and Publisher's Clearinghouse will never request money up front in order to receive a prize.
BBB suggests that consumers exercise caution when receiving unsolicited correspondence advising of a lottery, sweepstake, or prize promotion. If you believe that you have been the victim of fraud, BBB suggests that you contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. http://www.antifraudcentre.ca/
