I would like to have someone look into the practices of that company because I think they are infringing on persons personal information rights and the opportunity to rent a unit. I recently made tried to make a request to see a unit and was told unless I make an application I won't get to view the unit. I found it very odd because never in history have i heard of someone demanding that you make an application providing all you personal work details drivers License credit history and other details. Then to top it off they demanded that you bid for the place which was another strange request a unit that had a set price for rent they're asking me to bid on the price. Today I checked my emails and to my surprise I received a message saying that my offer was declined which again was odd when I was simply wanting to see the unit in order to know if I am interested in applying for it. Is this standard practice or this is allowed. I also got the impression they might be discriminating against people based on race and other limiting factors as we all know some people lack the ability to apply for a unit in these trying times. Is there any way someone can look into this and advice to give some form of guidance.

Hello and thank you for you concern,

We take pride in ensuring applicants understand what information we collect and why. While requesting a rental application prior to viewing a unit may not be the most common practice, it is not prohibited and is increasingly used in high demand rental markets. Our application allows prospective tenants to provide details in advance so we can:
-Confirm genuine interest in the property and reduce no-shows for scheduled viewings.
-Manage the high volume of inquiries efficiently and fairly.
-For security of our staff, know who is visiting the unit.
It is important to note that many of the fields on the application are optional at the initial stage. Full screening, including credit and employment checks, only takes place if an applicant chooses to move forward after viewing and wishes to secure the unit. With respect to bidding, we do not ask that those interested bid on a property. We sign leases with approved applicants on a first come first leased basis. Finally, we want to be very clear that our company has zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind. Every applicant is treated equally, and screening decisions are based only on objective, legal, and non-discriminatory factors such as credit, references, and income. We are unable to comment on this specific application in a public forum.

I am rejecting this response because:

I can forward you the email or you could go online to try to make the application they refused to do anything unless you fill out the application with all you information asking for drivers license credit information and other sensitive information.  They also sent the email saying they have refused my bid and even when applying it asks you to bid first unless you do so you can move forward with the application. That response makes no sense at all. If you wish to make a secure visit I have no issue providing Id etc but not a full application with personal and credit details.

Then with that information they can decide who they want to show and apparent to because they have you details and of course its very easy as that point to not select you. It happens all the time.

    Sincerely,

    ****** *****

So theres no point in raising any concerns in other words we have to just live in the discrimination and biased narrative.

I appreciate your support on the matter at least I do speak up so this can serve as proof of whats happening
