In 2020, my 2003 Dewalt DW734 Planer broke. I took it into the Dewalt Factory Service Center, Dartmouth, NS. I was told that it was too old to get parts for it and they would sell me a new one at a slight discount. ..so I bought one. After minimal use, the new planer had a catastrophic failure and was returned to the repair center for the complete drive train for the drive rollers to be replaced first week of December, 2022. After questioning an employee, I found out that not only was the machine not new (it was a remanufactured unit), that the warranty that came with it was actually cut in half to 6 months Needless to say, I was not happy however, the employee shrugged it off like this conversation was a common event. The employee stated it was "open box"...but why the reduction in warranty ? I contacted Dewalt Canada and they told me to call and complain to the service center that completed the bait and switch game. They had already rebuffed my inquires .. really ? I was told it was new, my receipt says it was new.. nothing about it being a remanufactured unit in the documentation only having 1/2 the warranty. If I had known it was remanufactured, I would not have bought it. The cost differential was not worth buying a remanufactured machine.. I bought a new unit, I want a new unit.
