    In early August 2024, I requested an estimate from Russo Concrete for repairing some cracks and reparging the foundation wall around my house. A few days later the owner, ***** Russo, came by, and I showed him the scope of the work. He seemed oddly impatient but was happy to take the job and said he would do it the following weekend. That didnt happen.A week after that, Russo showed up again, proclaiming he had lost his phone and could not let me know he wasnt coming (but he did not explain why he didnt come and certainly didnt apologize). As absurd as that sounded, I decided to just let it go. He then asked to leave his equipment in my yard and promised to start the job the following day. That didnt happen either. As before, he did not let me know he wouldnt be coming.About a week later, on September 3, Russo appeared again and started to do some work. After an hour or so, he declared he was done for the day and, to my surprise and dismay, asked to wash his wheelbarrow in my yard. I reluctantly let him to do that over some mulch in an inconspicuous corner.Before leaving, Russo told me he would finish the job the next morning and asked for some money so that he could buy more materials. I was astounded to hear that, but it was getting late, and I was tired and really didnt feel like tearing open the envelope I had prepared and count bills. What I now see clearly as red flags somehow did not register as such then, and so I proceeded to commit the most naive of all errors a buyer can make and just gave him that envelope. Russo took the cash with barely contained glee$2,300, for one hour of work and a bag of parging mixand vanished, abandoning his grungy wheelbarrow and ***** tools in my yard. He has ignored all my attempts to contact him ******** to the work he did do, Ive been informed it was done incorrectly. He just shoved parging compound into those crackscarelessly, sloppily. It looks like the work of a twelve-year-old!
