  Ottawa Deck and Rail came to install a railing on my newly upgraded staircase, capped with stone pavers. The installer asked me to sign a waiver relieving him of all liability and/or legal responsibility. Had I not signed it, he wouldn't have done the work. So I signed it and told him that I was somewhat nervous about the install. He told me that he had never had a problem case and it should be fine, but if something would go wrong, he would let me know. I went in the house and he got to work. After some time, I noted most of the rails were installed so I opened the door and had a look. I complemented him on the work and he said "thank you". I came outside to look at the railing from the front ********* was at this moment I saw him gluing pieces of cement paver destroyed when drilling the holes and installing the post. I asked him about it and he said that it was no big deal "it's just esthetics" were his exact words. I looked underneath the damaged stone. I was shocked to see that the underneath of the stone was blown out and a large void could be seen. It was so bad that I could also see the bolt that he had screwed into the stone. I looked at the other posts (total of 4) and noted that all of them had been damaged to the same extent or worse. I questioned the installer as to why he didn't bring this to my attention and why he continued with the rest of the railing installs, knowing the risk of further damage. He claimed that he didn't see it and even suggested that I was accusing him of hiding it. He said that he is very careful. If he was careful, he would have evaluated the drilling of the first stone, before moving on with the rest. At this point he stopped the work and said he would pay for the damaged stones. However, once he returned to the office, the story changed and he was no longer going to cover the cost of anything because I signed the waiver. The company didn't even come to witness the damage first hand. This is negligent and unprofessional.

  We had black spindle metal railings installed around our 800-square-foot deck with frameless glass panels spanning the 32-foot length to section off the pool area. The quality of the railings is excellent, but what particularly impressed us was the terrific work of the installers, ***** and ****. They are absolute pros - meticulous work, perfectly installed, professional, friendly, and very helpful answering lots of questions and giving me good advice - great guys all around. Highly recommended!

  Ottawa Deck and Rail installed railings on our front steps and we are extremely pleased with the result. The installers were professional, knowledgeable, polite, prompt and installed the railings perfectly for our needs as seniors. I would highly recommend this company.
