Of the $1000 deposit made on a cancelled job, I'm getting back only $95.50 and paying $904.50 for a permit application, and a couple site visits. I have a problem with this for the following reasons: 1. I've checked all emails and text messages and there was never any formal quote (other than numbers in a text) or explanation or breakdown of what the $1000 deposit was for other than covering the permit and securing a calendar spot for the job. I've attached the only paper work I ever received from the company with no terms and conditions or any mention whatsoever in the document or emails or texts or verbally that the $1000 was non-refundable or I would have requested a breakdown before sending the money. 2. I sent the $1000 deposit July 9th and all of a sudden 6 weeks later I get an invoice with line items that were never explained verbally or documented in any emails or text messages (which I've archived) telling me the following: the $1000 is non-refundable which I'm hearing for the first time ever site visits are $100 per visit which I'm hearing for the first time ever permit is $175 which is fine time to fill out form $425 which I'm hearing for the first time 3. Bottom line, the Contractor conveniently came up with an invoice 6 weeks after the fact that conveniently consumed all but $95 of my deposit THAT WAS NEVER DEEMED NON-REFUNDABLE. 4. I've attached the text message requesting my $1000 deposit (no mention of non-refundable), and the original non-formal text message quote, the form I signed for the deposit with no mention of non-refundable, and the invoice I received 6 weeks later 5. I would like half ($500) my deposit back and Contractor keeps $500 which covers permit cost and time for two site visits. This is fair.
