The project was started weeks later than the agreed upon start date. Communication was poor. The project was left unfinished with no clear end date provided except for "when I can fit you in". For this reason, we ended the agreement early which lead to requests from the Contractor for outstanding payment, which escalated very quickly to threatening collections and putting a LIEN ON OUR HOUSE "if payment not received by 4pm". All this was done BEFORE a final invoice had even been sent to us. It was only sent after WE requested it in order to make the final payment. Overall, a very bad experience.

We appreciate the chance to respond and clarify. This situation reinforced why we document every step, from contracts to scope changes and communication, to ensure clarity and protect both parties. Start Date:There was never a firm start date in writing. We clearly communicated potential delays and even offered you the option to use another contractor if our schedule didnt suit your needs you confirmed it was fine. Communication:We kept you informed throughout, including regular updates and documented change orders. All work adjustments and site limitations were discussed openly. Project Completion:The project was paused at your request because you didnt want jackhammering or concrete cutting for post installation despite that work being clearly outlined in the signed contract. You later approved it through a change order. Contract Termination:You ended the contract early for two main reasons: (1) not wanting the agreed-upon rock and concrete work done, and (2) asking us to reschedule around your neighbors availability which was not part of the original agreement. These details are all documented. Payment Terms:As per your signed contract, final payment was due once the contracted work was completed. Collections/Lien Notice:After over a week of unanswered payment requests, we notified you of our legal right to pursue collections which is standard and only came after the final invoice had been issued. You continued to request changes and sought to reduce the balance. Final Invoice:You had already received the invoice for work completed before requesting changes and ending the agreement. We agreed to reduce the final total in good faith to avoid further delays at your request. Discount Was a Courtesy:The discount and revised invoice were provided purely as a gesture to close the matter, even though the work was completed as requested. We worked professionally, communicated clearly, and completed the agreed work. We regret the situation escalated, but we stand by our right to seek payment for services rendered and by the documentation that supports our handling of the project.
