My 2 yo BOAT LIFT COLLAPSED!!
My 5000 lb rated boat lift held up with a 9000 lb cable snapped and crashed down unexpectedly with my ****** wake surf boat on it.
My specific wake-boat weighs AT MOST fully loaded 4900lbs.
Authorized DiaB boat lift installer visited the site and confirmed absolutely no fault of mine after inspection.
Dan, owner of Dock in a Box, had terrible customer service via email and he had no interest in investigating even though I invited him to come personally take a look. Instead he *** *** **** **** send me an invoice for a replacement cable. He then cut off communications.
He quickly deflected responsibility to his winch provider. He will claim he doesn't manufacture the lift or install it. Which is true but when you buy a DiaB boat lift, the *** lift comes standard. They are no other options available to customers.
*** submitted my concern in an email to *** winch company which was full of fabricated weights regarding the boat, ballasts and fuel tanks. The emails stated my boat was loaded upward of 9600lbs. He made false assumptions about my operations of the lift as well.
My lift failed and could potentially fail again. There was no effort to determine the cause. The cable snapping doesn't make sense. We got lucky that no one was seriously hurt when it collapsed or that I could have suffered a hull loss after it floated adrift.
*** in his email and his staff in person both confirmed history of boat lift cables breaking.
The replacement cost of the cable and the install was a mere $530. This could have been handled quietly and professionally. Sadly that did not occur. I feel obligated to warn people of the potential dangers of this product and the lack of customer service in *** ***** **** *** ****** **** this unfortunate event.
