    We have an issue with an in-ground pool that was completed fall 2022 with no apparent issues before covering for the winter. We have photos showing that the pool was intact Nov 30, Jan 25, and Feb 1s. After the snow melted we saw one side caved in.

    We pumped out the water and saw that water levels were lowering in the gap that had formed outside the pool wall, indicating a potential breach in the pool's structure. We cannot determine this yet since the cover cannot be rolled back due to the rail being bent inwards.

    The contractor denied all responsibility, saying it's from us not pumping out the water in the fall. However, we did this and all recommended precautions and procedures.

    I made an inquiry with the pool cover company as a new customer. They told me that the pool would not cave in due to weight on the cover if the water level underneath was maintained correctly which the contractor claims to have done. They also mentioned that the automatic cover used is not recommended for winter.

    Additionally, the pool cover company suggested that such a scenario could occur if the seams in the pool vinyl separated due to a poor weld, which can happen during the winter. If this is the case then the contractor is definitely at fault due to poor construction.

    Given these circumstances, I believe that the contractor may have performed a substandard job leading to the pool's failure. The total cost of the construction was not cheap, totalling about $120,000. We have not been able to determine the cost of repairing the damage as communication with the contractor has been difficult since we discovered the damage, as he is deflecting all claims that it could be his fault, taking days to respond to our messages and avoiding our phone calls. We only managed to get a hold of him when we called from the hospital phone line where his wife works.

    Till now he has not returned to examine the pool again, and we wish to resolve this issue ASAP, and potentially take legal action.

    Hello

     I have been in contact with hakim and have been looking into all help i could do with cover company and panel suppier. Cover was not installed by us but by the cover company and all instructions were givin to home owner. Damages were cause by water wieght on cover. We do not hold warranties on this item they are help by the cover supplier . Panels supplier refused warranty due to it was caused by cover.  I do feel bad and have been in touch with hakim. . I've tried to help any way we can.
