    I put a down payment of $3000 down on a ******* ****** ****** *** *** ********* in November 2022. It was roughed in on December 23rd, 2022. By January 5th, 7 different techs from McKay had been involved in the install. Not one could tell us how to get it to work beyond turning it on. Installation continued in Jan/Feb... and by end of Feb the fireplace was in, but has NEVER worked.
    - 40,000 BTU it should heat a space twice the size of my living room.
    - I am constantly having to restart the fireplace... just to keep a flame going
    - The alleged remote remote thermostat is supposed to have automatic on/off thermostat setting but nothing works...
    - it barely provides any heat; it's not even a nice esthetic item as it barely stays on... it's a black hole in the living room
    In March I paid the balance owing of $5103, after which they ignored my requests to address the issues, with owner *** ***** threatening to charge me $128+GST for a callout if anything other than the fireplace contributes to the problem... he even tried to bill me for an unannounced visit.
    *** *****'s response to my issues: "Id like to remind you that we did not pick your fireplace. You told us which one you wanted and we ordered it, not to mention there was issues from the start with the framer not being familiar with a fireplace installation..."
    As per above, they are distributors of ******* ******???? So if there is some reason why ** or the model wouldn't work here they should have said, but I was told it would with the chimney modifications which were done to McKay's specs.
    Re. the "framer" -- he followed McKay instructions. If McKay felt the framer wasn't qualified why didn't they tell me at the time????
    REQUESTED RESOLUTION: McKay Mechanical take responsibility, do a full analysis of the fireplace and its installation & fix all problems properly at no additional cost to me. If the unit is not right, they should exchange it...
