    I am the legal stepmother of a child enrolled at Elite Dance Studio. For the past four years, I have requested to be added to the studio’s email list for competitions, events, and other important updates. My husband, ****** ******—the child’s legal father—has also repeatedly requested access, as he is often the parent responsible for the child during extracurricular activities.

    Despite these repeated requests, the studio has either ignored or outright denied them. Most recently, staff explicitly refused to add ****** to the distribution list, preventing him from receiving essential information regarding his child. This refusal is discriminatory, unprofessional, and creates unnecessary barriers to his parental involvement.

    There is a standing court order that grants ****** full access to all information regarding his child. Elite Dance Studio’s refusal to communicate with him is in direct violation of that order. In addition, staff consistently refuse to acknowledge me as the child’s stepmother when I am present at the studio or at events, which further demonstrates bias and exclusionary practices.

    It is our belief that this treatment is influenced by the personal relationship between the studio’s ownership and the child’s biological mother. This favoritism has resulted in unfair and unequal treatment of ****** and myself, undermining both professionalism and compliance with legal obligations.

    We request that corrective action be taken to ensure ****** ****** is immediately granted equal access to all communications and that the discriminatory treatment toward us ceases. As paying clients, we expect fair, professional, and lawful conduct from a business that serves children and families.
