  I was explicit in what I needed. They tried to up sell with overpriced parts supplied by **** New Minas, the worst **** store that I have dealt with on a professional and personal level. There were two people on the desk, but only one was able to make any sort of decisions about service. I asked to have the exhaust pipe that went up over the rear axle replaced and booked an appointment for same. What I got was a 15 minute inspection that said I needed everything from the manifold back replaced. I left with an appointment for the next day. After some thought, I checked with the **** store that I deal with on prices as the quote contained all of the **** part numbers. My **** store was considerably cheaper. When I got home, my partner who is an unlicensed mechanic and I ran the car up onto a small set of ramps we have. The muffler and resonator appeared to be fine as my licensed mechanic at a different shop had said. I called Midas to ask if I could bring my own **** parts, but unfortunately I got the junior desk clerk. She said she would have the senior clerk call me, which he did at 5 pm that day. By that time I had cancelled my appointment online. The senior clerk started to speak to me about supplying the parts, but I quickly cut him off by saying that ship had sailed as my **** was receiving their parts from Halifax earlier that morning. The clerk said something to the effect that I felt he was trying to up sell. I explained that I was upset because I did not receive the service I had requested - a new pipe that went up over the axle as my mechanic had directed me. At that point the clerk got upset and said if you have a mechanic, why did you come to us? I replied because he works in a specialty shop i.e. tire shop and bending pipe is not their specialty. I saw that this conversation was going nowhere, so I quickly ended the call with I had to leave for a meeting in Halifax, which was completely true. The BBB tells me Midas is a numbered co.

  Unfortunately we do not install customer supplied parts as over the years many have been wrong or fit exhaust systems poorly causing more work on our part. Also all peers and labour provided by us are guaranteed and only highest quality.
  The repair request by the customer would not fix the many various leaks within the system and our estimate would fix all the leaks in the system. This exhaust had been patched by others too many times to fix and replacement was the only legal and ethical repair.
  We maintain a high google review standard 4.8 YTD and work very hard to ensure each of the 5000 customers interactions annually are positive and are committed to customer satisfaction daily
