The school charged me $660 for textbooks and printed materials that I have to print and pay for myself. The school doesn’t differentiate between online students and in class students. I was also told I would get 100 hours in work experience training after the course but then told that was only available to in class students when the course was ending . I am looking for an on line education discount. The teachers sent multiple emails saying they are only there to guide and it was “self taught” so if I had questions I was told to ****** it or do my own research. I do not get textbooks for my 660 but I have to pay to print and take the time to download all the material. I spent over $600 in printing fees. And when the class ends I no longer have access to these on line “textbooks”.

      Business response

      17/11/2022

Simone Maillet (our Regional Director: Operations) got in touch with me with regards to the communication below as this student registered for an online program.
Following consultation with my Campus Director, ******* *********, the following is submitted:

      1. Nichole is confusing book fees with Technology & Learning resources - $660.00

Her signed payment plan and contract both clearly state what the fee is for.

Students are not required to print anything as it is not necessary to complete the program.

******* ********* communicated with her and thoroughly explained what the fees are. This set of communications is available for your review.

      1. Her Education Consultant would have spoken to her about work experience training either at the beginning or the end of her program. We clearly differentiate between online and in class students.
      1. Her complaint about the teachers guiding and the courses being self-taught: the modality of online delivery stipulates how these programs are designed and delivered.
      2. Using ****** and online resources in a Digital Marketing program is one of the basis for the program.

Thanks ***** and let me know if you have further questions.

      Kind regards,

      Customer response

      17/11/2022

I am rejecting this response because:

It was made clear to me in my contract that the fee was for textbooks and I spoke to ***** my advisor the day school started asking when I would receive my textbooks, and that was when it was explained that there was none. I was ABSOLUTELY required to print materials for assignments especially Microsoft program assignments and exams and materials for quizzes. If I am not required to print anything then why was I charged 660 for textbooks. The contract was clear that this was to pay for materials the school needed to print for me and I have a copy of the definition from my contract. As for the job training that also is a lie as I was told I would get 100 hours of job placement hours , but when I discussed it with the advisor she stated that was for in class students only. How would I know it was 100 hours if it wasn’t offered to me?
I am disappointed that the school thinks it is ok to do this to students and I have a contract that shows what the fee was for and I did NOT receive any materials from the school. I have copies of all conversations proving my statements and even my contract stating what the $660 was for. You cannot say I was confused when it is clear in the contract it is for textbooks and any materials the school has to print off.
I can easily prove my side. I have all the emails asking what this fee was for and the answer kept changing. Once I was told it was to keep the information “current” so students were charged the 660. But my contract is clear that is is only for textbooks and printed materials the school needs to print off. None of those happened. I am very dissatisfied in this schools response.
