I had Dartmouth Handyman services replace an exterior storm door. The gentlemen I was talking to stated he knew exactly the door I was looking for and ordered it in. The door that he came out with was in no way exact. The old door had a heavy door closer attached to the interior which the new one does not, so automatically im dealing with 4 exposed holes. The exterior of the door was also left a mess where it was filled in with caulking not replaced the way it should of. Dartmouth handyman services came back out to the house to instal pvc pieces to cover up the holes just inside the storm door but still looks a mess. No notification was made by this handyman when he was out the second time to address my concerns and I tried messaging him via text numerous times but no reply. Then when I called when straight to voicemail. I called using another number and immediately got through. I was told during that call that all my concerns were at fault of my own. That I needed to have the exterior fixed up to standard prior to him coming out and that I knew what door he was coming with. I wasted 1300 for a door and still have extreme cosmetic issues that are staring me in the face, had I known this is the work I was about to receive never would've got it done.

    Ref; James
    Eastern passage

James sent in a request to home depot for a storm door installation

We received that through home depot and contacted James to let him know that we are a sub contractor to HomeDepot and that we install storm doors
We went to the property and measured the door required
we then provided James with the door we recommended as his current door was no longer a stock item
4000 series as detailed in his estimate supplied to him
He agreed on the price by sending the material deposit for the item
he was given confirmation of his order again with details of his product ordered
we went to his property and noted that there was minor damage to his doorframe alongside the existing anderson storm door frame
We removed the old Anderson frame and door and replaced with new Anderson door frame that happen to be the same door frame
we capped holes in the doorway frame with silicone and also covered the minor damage noted on the frame outside along side the base hinge about the size of a loony
We left after the install and saying goodbye to James and he said it looks great thank you for the service
when we got home we started to receive a barrage of text saying he was not happy with being left 4 screw holed in the doorway and this was not executable
he also started going on about the hole at the base oh the storm door in the door frame and how it was bringing down the value of his home and that i should replace the doorway !
He also started saying his platform took a beating ! we did incur a minor scratch to a deck plank and discounted him $50 of his final bill that he was now refusing to pay !
he excepted the discount and paid the invoice only to keep going on about how its not right that i the contractor leave his property like this
James at NO point made it know to us that he was getting upset at how the visual damage of the old storm door hole looked until he stated in his review to google and BBB
we responded to James by going out again and fitting pvc screw cap covers to the inner doorway of the storm door we also did a calking detail on the outside.
we then received a barrage of text from James saying this was not good enough and that he was not going to let this go
Dave contacted James and explained to him that repairing his framework to a state of new was not part of our scope of works we remove olds screws from frame and fit new screws
James expected us to take on the cost of his repair and wanted us to do something that we are not expected to do UNLESS ASKED OR AGREED TO.
We have been very mannerly and courteous to James but unfortunately he persists on trying to do us wrong over something that had nothing to do with the work we were contracted to do
Most customers have the sense to engage with the contractor at the start of works and inform or request we look into an issue James did not .
James is saying he wasted 1300$ just a quick brake down 800$ for door 150$ pickup delivery recycle 375$—-50$ Discount
After speaking with James on the phone he fully expect us to carry out this repair work
this was requested or asked for in any way
James now has a fan club posting in support of James and his experience with us .
