We hired ******* ***** & her husband ***** to renovate our kitchen. They seemed knowledgeable and capable at first, and proceeded to knock out a wall, repair the drywall, paint, do the required electrical work, & hired a plumber to reroute heating pipes. The work seemed excellent, but there were multiple delays of 1-3 weeks at a time, which they explained were because they were doing jobs for other people - not ideal during a kitchen renovation. During this period they began a habit of repeatedly promising to make up for lost time by coming on the weekend, and then not showing up. Finally after a fairly productive period, she asked for the 2nd installment, insisting she needed it immediately because she was meeting with the counter-top company to pay a down-payment and book the counter-top measurement. This measurement never took place. Once they received our installment, ***** and ******* basically stopped working, with at least half the contract left incomplete. After 3 weeks of excuses they came back ONCE for 2.5 hours, installed some cabinets they had dropped off weeks earlier, & we haven't seen them since. These were left unfinished with no handles. After 7 more weeks of delays supposedly due to cabinet unavailability, we cut our losses & hired new contractors. ******* won't give us the name of the company she gave our money to for the counter-tops, so we have no choice but to believe this payment was never made, & that this is the real reason for the work stoppage. A new contractor has told us these cabinets should be widely available from any number of suppliers, so I believe ******* was dishonest. The whole thing is a terrible shame, because ***** did do good work, including kindly repairing our shed roof after it was damaged by Fiona, and seemed more than capable of finishing the job. ******* has promised refunds which we don't expect to ever receive. We have learned she has been charged with defrauding another couple under the name "Artemis Contracting".
