    I am writing with a concern about the lack of service that I have encountered with the Accounting Firm: Irene McCardle’s Accounting (in Miramichi, NB).
    We have used this firm for our personal taxes for over 6 years, with no issues.
    The problem I’m reporting relates to filing GST/HST for a business account I opened in error for my Airbnb. It was determined that I don’t need the GST/HST account. The account was closed by a former employee of Irene McCardle’s firm as my delegate. Attempts to process the final filing with the assistance of McCardel’s firm have stalled. They agreed to file the GST/HST for me as my delegate, but they have not followed through on the final filing.

    I have initiated all communication with them relating to this GST/HST problem and I have communicated with them for months. Always by e-mail, so I have a paper trail. I learned that the person on staff at McCardel’s office who was coaching me has left the Accounting Firm.
    I learned that McCardel’s firm has merged with another firm in Miramichi. This was a big surprise. I wouldn’t have known that if I hadn’t asked. We didn’t receive any formal notification.
    I just want them to file the final GST/HST so that I can put that behind me.
    I received numerous progressively threatening letters and phone calls from *** since Sept 2023 about my past-due amount. I wasn’t getting any confirmation that the GST/HST final account was filed so I paid *** the Arrears plus Interest. I didn’t understand why I was still receiving bills from *** while the GST/HST was closed.

    I am concerned that reporting this matter to BBB will affect the service we receive in June when my husband files his personal taxes. This firm has been our Accounting Firm for personal taxes for 6 years and I don’t want to jeopardize that relationship.
    But I need help from BBB to encourage them to process the final filing.
