The process started in March 2022 and the final payment was given April 21 2022. He was to get all the permits and make sure everything was done to code. He informed us we did not need a permit for redoing our entire basement and that they changed the rules. There was also no plumbing permit for the addition of a bathroom. We gutted our basement and has it turned into a basement apartment with new bigger windows installed and new rooms added. I began to do research after the final payment and noticed he lied about the permits. I do have the original singed agreement which states that he would get all necessary permits. I tried to resolve it on my own and I have been trying since May 3rd for him to fix the issue however he still has not fulfilled his end of the deal. In total the project was just over 60K and I expected it to be done right. I want the permits at his cost. He also only paid $2462.64 for the electrical work but I was charged $5400 for that work. I would like a full review of the costs associated with my renovation because I would like that extra almost $3000 back that I over payed. He signed documents that state he would do things right and he did not. There are several issues with the work they did but I am able to look past them as long as I get what I paid for which is the permits and any extra funds I overpaid. I would also like his business reviewed. I have talked to others and he often tries to rip his customers off. Not a good business man at all. I have tenants moving into the apartment august 1st and I can no longer wait for him to keep pushing this off because he is hoping I will drop it.
