    Had a sewer backup in 2021, dealt with it and was advised to clear roots each year. Requested service from Red Alert for clearing our sewer line of roots in 2022. Work completed and was advised we could wait 2 years as they found very little. Contacted Red Alert in 2024, asking about a maintenance promotion but also explaining the need for sewer line root clearing. Requested the same again in 2025, again mentioning the roots. Tested all lines and discovered no issues. 3 months later, the sewer backed up due to roots. Damage to basement, and cost thousands to clear the sewer line.
    Turns out maintenance does not include preventative measures for roots in sewer lines. Re-reading the emails, we were advised that the maintenance 'tests' the lines and if there's an issue, it would cost extra. Advised the fault lies with us as we requested a maintenance check that only checks/tests lines to ensure they drain properly. We did not request preventative sewer clearing. It would have been nice to have had guidance from the professionals on a service that prevented roots since we explained we had root issues.
    The company is fine, staff are friendly and professional. Just make sure to understand what is included in the services requested. Prices are good, which we would have been happy to pay rather than what we ended up paying to fix the issue.
