***************************************************************************************************************************************************** The claim we are filing is against Winnipeg Moving. We hired Winnipeg Moving (in conjunction with ****************) for a long distance move from Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada to Madison, Mississippi, USA based on a low initial estimate. Those charges have been increased by more than 40% from the original non-binding estimate. The original estimate stated our house in Winnipeg as the starting point and Madison, MS as the endpoint, street address to be determined. We agreed and provided our credit card details for the first deposit -our household was packed and moved to the storage in Winnipeg. When we asked to move our furniture down to Mississippi 6 months later, we were provided with a NEW estimate that was about 11% higher than the original estimate (despite the weight being about 12% less than the weight used for the initial estimate), in our understanding due to "seasonal changes of the tariff" never before mentioned to us. In addition, we were suddenly told that the initial part of the move between our house and the storage in Winnipeg was a "local move" and not part of the cross-border move and estimate. Email correspondence as well as the main pick-up location and the main delivery address written on the estimate state the contrary. Of note, we also have never received any independent estimate for such a local move. The new estimate and the charges for the local move together resulted in a more than 40% increase in moving costs. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* At the time of this writing the company currently is holding our furniture. Today (June 1, 2021) they tried to explain themselves by creating and sending us a ***** email dated at the time of the estimate. ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** What we are seeking is for the company to carry out the terms of the original estimate **************** ******************** 1) Relocation to the USA--dated Oct. 16, 2020--makes clear that the agent knew that we would need to store our things before he wrote the estimate dated October 20, 2020. 2) Credit card authorization--dated Oct. 24, 2020--makes clear what we were paying for: "The initial deposit would be to cover the local pack, pickup and 1st month storage services and in Canadian Funds. Once the actual load date is established we would ask for prepayment of the balance owing prior to delivery." Hand written in the attachment itself is the origin and destination of the move that we were placing a deposit for (Winnipeg to Madison) 3) ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* 4) RE: Winnipeg to Madison Relocation--dated May 31, 2021--is our response to the company's claim that we were trying to combine two moves into one. 5) ******************dated Oct. 20, 2020--is the original non-binding estimate we responded to with a credit card authorization, and what we are seeking the company to carry out. Please be aware of the pickup location and delivery location. 6) The revised estimate--dated May 28, 2021--is the new estimate they gave us. ********************************************************** All the best, Charles *******
