    After he did a deck project and we recommended him to 2 other clients. We asked for some help for a deficiency on his project with us

    As a contractor I pride myself on not treating any client as simply a paycheck, that being said it is a transactional relationship. The project is outlined in a written quote laying out the materials, labor charge and general scope the work. It does not include any future work or guarantee of future work.
    Unlike a full composite build using screw piles which is close to 0 maintenance for the life of the product, a wood deck built on footing pads will require some general maintenance which is the responsibility of the home owner. Staining being one and releveling if the ground shifts or settles under the deck are the most common. Neither of which was listed in the original quote.
    Just as a homeowner has the right to choose who they prefer to work on their home a contractor has full right to choose who they prefer to do work for. Some just don't like being told no.
