    On Sep.24 2021, I hired South Island Mechanical to perform maintenance on two heat pumps at my home. I paid a total of $****** for the service, which covered a one-year labor warranty. However, in February 2022, one of the heat pumps stopped working. When South Island Mechanical sent a technician to diagnose the issue, he was not familiar with the brand and model of the heat pump and took over two and half hours to figure out the problem. The technician then presented me with a bill for $****** for his time. I felt that this was unreasonable, as I felt like I was essentially paying for the technician to learn how to work on my heat pump. I subsequently hired another company to check and fix the heat pump. The technician from this company was able to diagnose in less than 10 minutes, at a cost of $*** for the check-up and $**** for parts and labor. South Island Mechanical had previously quoted me $******* to fix the heat pump, in addition to the $****** check-up fee. I am extremely dissatisfied with the poor service and high costs I have encountered with South Island Mechanical. I believe that I was overcharged and that the company did not live up to the terms of the one-year labor warranty that I paid for maintenance.

    Thank you Julia for your review. We take customer satisfaction very seriously. We provided a service with a solution. We also confirmed that solution with Tech support. Tech Support is there to support technicians, we encourage our team to utilize this benefit our suppliers provide. Once diagnosed, we provided you a quote to repair. We were transparent with our service costs and they were provided to you before we came to your house and was accepted by you. Our rates are competitive with other Local 516 union companies in GVA. To review, your invoice from February 28, 2022 remains unpaid. To address your confusion with warranty coverage. We do provide one year warranty on service work. Your prior call was a maintenance and no repair work was done, therefore there is nothing to warranty and the one-year labour warranty does not apply.
