  *** Brothers recommended Fresh Start to me for recycling a desk and chair, a light 7x9 carpet and a 24 bathroom vanity in good condition. When I called them the office gave me a ballpark figure of $178.00 minus 10% because I was recommended by *** Brothers. The men who came were prompt and helpful. Imagine my shock when I got a bill for $ ******. That was more than double the original quote. They loaded the goods into a bin and then when they dragged the bin onto their truck bed, everything slid to one end with a big thump which told me they were not recycling it but just dumping it. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

  Hi ****, Im sorry this didnt work out the way you intended. *** Brothers, is a charity we support wholeheartedly and for almost our entire 18 years in business, we have worked closely donating 100s or potentially ****s of cubic yards of clothing and small items about the size of a bread box. *** Brothers doesnt pick up furniture, because second hand furniture is somewhere between very hard and impossible to resell. *** Brothers, just like all these charities, raise money by selling the material they pick up so they can fund their programs and help those in need.Our agreement with *** Brothers is that if a client phones them with materials they dont pick up, rather than shrugging their shoulders, they try to help out by making a referral. There is no obligation to follow through on the referral, but you did receive a 10% discount by way of a thank you for trying to do the right thing.I spoke with our driver, and he told me that when he phoned you up before arriving to discuss the call, you explained what you had and he gave you the approximate volume but said we charge based on what goes in the truck. He told me that you had been quoted a lower number from the office. He explained, before he came to do the work, that what you were telling him sounded like more volume than what the office quoted and that you chose to move forward with the work. He then went on to say that when you and he were having a conversation you asked if we did any moving because you had a large furniture item that you needed help with. He said that though its not typically our purview to handle this request, because of insurance and other reasons he said that we could do it for a fee if it was easy. It was easy, we did it, that service isnt free.As our name implies, we specialize in RECYCLING and DISPOSAL, and it sounds to me like the drivers added Moving out of the kindness of their hearts.Your furniture was not donatable, and I know that because the charity you phoned referred you to a garbage and recycling company. Glass table tops arent recycling. Theyre made from different type of glass than baby food or pickle jars. Nor are wooden desks and vanities. Theyre painted furniture and not unpainted 2x4s or pallets.After speaking with you, my driver and the person who took the call I believe you were invoiced the correct way, for the work you had us do. If any future customers are on the fence about using Fresh Start, I would advise them to phone the office and make an appointment to discuss this review or any of our reviews and ask for references. We have many excellent reviews and were proud of the great work weve done since ****.
