    An initial deposit $10,636.50 was given to Michael ****** at the end of July for the equipment and materials (mainly a 100K BTU high-efficiency furnace, a 5ton 19.7 **** heat pump, 5ton case coil). The installation was supposed to be complete by mid-August. Only our old furnace had been removed mid-August. According to our agreement an additional $2,625.00 was paid to McCann mid August (once the furnace was removed). Another installation time was set for mid-September, but McCann did not not shown up. Reasons ****** provided for not showing up over numerous weeks included; • being away for *** ********, • his truck off the road and emitting black smoke, • *** ******** home from ****** with a bad flu, • he had the flu which turned into COVID, • ****** losing his voice so he could not verbally communicate, • ******’s partner texted me that ****** was in intensive care in the Abbotsford hospital in late September. I subsequently visited the Abbotsford Hospital in person and enquired of the staff of ****** and told no one by that name was resident or had been in the last 2 weeks in the hospital. I tried to contact ****** and his partner on several occasion to get an update, but there was no response. I couriered a letter to ****** at the address listed on his website at the time but had the letter returned by the Post Office as no one by that name existed at that address. The letter stated that, “Time is of the essence, as such, we will be contacting another vendor to install the furnace and air conditioner. We no longer want to use your service and are requesting a refund of the funds for the equipment. In addition, we’ve had multiple vendors already come by to quote and they have said, contrary to his recommendation, that our current air conditioner had enough tonnage to service our house. We could not re-use our current AC unit, as it had been severely damaged by him leaving the refrigerant line unsealed and not worth the repair – we will need a new unit.”
