In the spring summer and fall of 2022 I recieved a quote from my friend Andrew Kane for bathroom renovations. I had a water damage claim in my ensuite bathroom and I also needed my main bathroom and my downstairs rental suite bathroom renovated. I am not aware of what his business name is but he was working for *********************** in Delta ** so I knew he was qualified to do the work. I advised him at the time that I was going to rent out the upper portion of my home and the tenant for upstairs was moving in July 28 2022. He assured me that he and his worker would be able to complete the job on time for the tenant to move in. The quote he provided for the job was $3,277 not including appliance installation or materials. I agreed that this would work for me. I was to pay the plumber and electrician on my own but he was going to source those trades for me and remove all the waste material. My complaint; -the job went 2 months past the date my tenant moved in.-the final invoice is close to $10,000 and includes materials I paid for through an account at the local building center ( with the exception of one can of paint and $13 worth of electricalsupplies).- the final invoice includes painting which myself and a friend completed in an attempt to speed up the work to finish in time.- the invoice included the sourcing of contractors which I did myself, also to expedite the renovation to get done in time. I hired the plumber and electrician.- the invoice included electrical work that was not authorized by me. He was told that I hired an electrician but he installed the bathroom lighting and the baseboard heaters which then had to be moved. As a result of this they are trying to charge me for the extra work of repairing the drywall where the lighting was installed in the wrong place. The hours on the invoice do not correspond with the times they actually showed up at my house to do the work, I constantly had to call and ask when they were coming back to work.
