    Complaint Type:
    Service or Repair Issues
    Status:
    Resolved
Nov 15/2022 signed a purchase agreement for a modular home. During the walk through of the home We were told that some of the furnace parts had been removed but would be replaced shortly. Feb 10/23 took delivery of the home. We were not permitted to go inside due safety concerns. We were not given the code to the lock box until we complained that we were doing some of the work ourselves. Finally at the end of Feb/23 we were provided with the code. It wasn't until our *** ****** come to connect the furnace to the gas lines we discovered that the furnace parts had not been replaced its taken three weeks of waiting for parts and back and forth to get the parts which were installed partly by our *** ****** and partly by a company hired by Halstons. The parts Halston used were not parts that originally were installed in the furnace rather they were generic parts. The furnace is very noisy now, and we have been told that if there is a problem with the furnace it will not be covered by the warranty. The salesman keeps telling us it will be alright. It took three weeks to get the parts installed delaying the final occupancy permit. Several calls to the company back and forth without a call back. When we talked to the salesman he denied saying anything about the furnace missing parts, he continues to say he didn't know anything about it. I've asked three times to speak to the owner hoping to get this sorted out and other issues resolved, but I have not received any call from the owner. While the home was in transit, they hit a tree tearing off some of the siding, repairs were made to some of the siding however the balance of the siding in the front is loose and will probably fall off if there is a wind storm.

If our experience is reflective of what yours could be; BUYER BEWARE!!! Be very, very AWARE! Quick context: we are an informed buyer. We negotiated contract changes prior to the actual signing and designed our home (recommendations below). From the onset we were promised items (increased joist depth) and then had our homes completion date used to bargain our agreement to their exclusion (delayed start to manufacturing). *********** **** *** ****** ******** ** ** ** ******* **** ******* ***** *******. We identified materials incorrectly installed in both the factory and on-site ** *** *** ************* *********** ************ ********** *** ** *** **** ******* ** *** ******** ******** ******* ****** *** * **** ******** ******* Please know that the any sort of correction to these materials took significant effort on our part. We experienced on-site altercations while seeking to complete pre-arranged in contract home owner supplied elements (access stairs to the unit which were NIC). ** **** *** ********** ** * ***** **** **** *** ****** ****** ** ** ** *** ******** * ******* ******* ******* ** ***** **** **** *** **** ********* ****** *** *** ****** *** **** ** ***** **** **** **** *** ***** *** ** ******* *** **** ** ** ******* ** ******* ******* ******* *** ******** ** **********  The true number of ill experiences we had were capped off with the owner not willing to provide a warranty related product which they had promised to in writing. Halston Modular Homes Response

    15/02/2022

The issues with this home were with ****** * housing who built the home. All deficiencies were signed off on and accepted by the client after they were fixed by a factory contractor. This client was given a $25,000 warranty settlement and signed a mutual release. Both Halston Modular Homes and ****** * housing lost a lot of money on this home in attempt to keep this client happy. I believe his statements in his complaint summarize what we were dealing with. In 25 years of business we have never had someone read and attempt to edit every sentence of our client to sign package. He suggests that a third party contractor should oversee the factory build. This is insanity! This client was allowed in the factory to oversee some of his homes production. We have never had a client request this before. Our ****** reviews are at 4.1 out of 5 and you will see that almost all of the reviews are very positive. We take great pride in customer satisfaction and work very hard to achieve it. We were thankful that a settlement was reached as every contractor that was involved with this home was adamant they would not return. They simply stated that the client was impossible to deal with. Through all of ****** * and Halston Modular Homes efforts we feel that a common ground was reached in the end. Signing off on the home and signing a mutual release should simply make this BBB complaint null and void.
