The roofer first of all said that I would get a warranty for materials and labour He put the roof on in 2021 and 23. I already had problems. He made up some story about that the attic is drying out, and thats why my ceiling in the kitchen was all cracking I total lie In 24 I have a major leak in my kitchen I contacted contractor, it took two weeks for him even to look at it He said if he was at fault, he would repair all the damage that this leak had caused in my house wet insulation theres a big metre hole in the in my kitchen ceiling It was taking so long for him to come and look at the problem. And being that the contractor said he would cover all damages if he was at fault, and being it took him three months to complete the work on my house I wasnt feeling too confident So I had a company come and look at the work he did on the roof. They took pictures pointed out areas where he did the flashing wrong, leaving it open for water to get into the house.I sent the pictures to West Coast roofing, and the gentleman agreed also that the flashing was put on wrong The contractor went to the house and tried to say that the water was coming through the chimney into the house When he had not caulked the flashing at all, and water was coming in that way When I presented this evidence to him, he ghosted me I was communicating with the tenant after this, the tenant revealed that on March 7 the contractor just came to the house and was going to go up on the roof when the tenant saw him The contractor has not said why he went up on the roof, or what he did to either the tenant nor me Like I said, hes a ghost to me now He states his bill that he is the only contractor that can deal with the roof yet hes a ghost What did he do on the roof March 7?Im afraid that he went and damaged the chimney to try to make his story sound more plausible He told me I have a warranty for all the work done, contacted the company that handles the warranties and they say he is not considered a GAF contractor and so they are not responsible for labour mistakes. So basically, my roof warranty is worth nothing. With materials and labour I paid close to $15,000 I apologize for the inconvenience but it is far too difficult for me to communicate over email. Thanks, ******************* afternoon ******:I am about to head back into town.Firstly, when back my plan is:- investigate the cause of leak from inside attic - if responsible, I will repair damaged insulation, clean and disinfect any moisture contaminated materials, mend affected plaster ceiling with repair and seal all chimney flashing by repointing flashed joints with elastomeric sealant.- if I am not responsible, for example if I am able to show you the location of the leak through the chimney itself, you will be responsible for paying me to provide attic access (as per code) and if you have me make the repairs to reimburse for time and materials.Do you find this agreeable?Secondly, would you like me to provide a chimney sleeve and cap and install, as discussed? I estimate the cost to be approximately $2900 for the scope of work I've described previously but can confirm that once in town.Lastly, I believe all of this work can be completed within 5 days. Thanks,***** On Tue, Feb 13, 2024 at 1:34PM *********************************** <***********************************> wrote:This is what I propose:- provide attic access if not available - replace damaged insulation ***- repair plaster kitchen ceiling ***- provide metal sleeve similar to following:*** If I am discovered to be at fault for damage, these items will be at no cost to you.Contractor has shown to be at fault and really how can I trust this guy now?First, I want to know what he did on March 7 when he went up on the roof with no notice Second, I want the cost of the job to be done covered by him with everything that he says he would do if he was at fault You can see he was just trying to get more work out of me and you gotta know his work would still be substandard If a person wants to check at BBB about this contractor is there someway that they can be warned that hes a man who doesnt know what hes doing?

    Business Response

    Date: 13/03/2024

    Good evening Better Business Bureau:

Referencing the email Mr. ****** included in his complaint, CWM Carpentry conducted a detailed inspection of the chimney masonry on both the inside of the attic during inclement weather and up on the roof up to the crown and cap during appropriate weather.  We are satisfied we have sufficient documentation of both the cause of and severity of the water damage to the chimney and that we are not at fault.

    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: first of all, when he said water was coming through the chimney he said he said he had a video, but he never produced it for me. At that time. I asked to see it, but as he does, he ghosted me.

then he did the scam builder way and ghosted me after that he even came to my home without telling me and went up on the roof, and when I asked him what he did up on the roof, he doesnt bother to reply again ghost me, so what did he do up on the roof on that Thursday the seventh he doesnt say what

He made me believe he was a GAF Accredited roofer, and so my warranty would go through the company and I wouldnt have to worry about dealing with a shady contractor like Him

Just to show what a scammer he is it took him three months to complete the work on my house when he said he would have it done in a few weeks

He would come by when he had the time

there was a problem with the kitchen ceiling cracking, and he gave us some story about its because the addict is drying out, and this is causing a change in humidity and moisture, which causes the ceiling to crack

But water obviously was getting into the attic, still flashings, not caulked, etc.

Ive had two roofers agreed that this was all done in properly

he doesnt want to be responsible for his poor workmanship. I believe he was trying to get more work out of me by making this leak happen and then coming back and charging me $2900 for a sleeve over the chimney. Im sure hes done this to a lot of poor seniors, its his game plan for more continuous work

where is his proof that he talks about?

His video and his pictures of the flashing

I asked him to supply pictures of everything during the original repairs and 21 and all I got was a far away picture of the chimney and flashing from one side only he didnt wanna show his work of the flashing not being done properly and no caulking done around the flashing

    Sincerely,
