Signed contract to build deck in my back yard with on Oct 20, 2024 .With a deposit of $ ******* and ****** everymonth until April 01, 2025 for a total of $ 9107.65.Deck to be completed by April 30, 2025.Part of the agreement was to start the deck during nicer weather in the winter as my wife is handicap and our dog is 12 yrs old and we don't use the deck in the winter.The owner of company ****** only showed up to dig 3 holes under deck to cement for support beam in Nov 2024.. then does not show up again even when the weather was nice. I text him and ***ised why he is not coming - he *** too busy with other jobs.I *** then I will stop making payment for Jan 2025 until he starts coming again.We talked in March 2025 and agree I would pay him the rest of the money for Jan 01- March 01 - $ 3000 and then $ ******* when his all done.He shows up March 24 , 2025 and *** some boards are rotten and he recommens all the deck replaced for another $ ******* with GST ... I agree but asked him if he can still have everything done by April 30, 2025 ....he says yes but we need a revised agreement... I *** ok but does not provide one***** he then takes his time coming working very few hours until May 19, 2024 and tells me he is leaving for the day and coming back May 22, 2025, neve came. He stopped returng my texting and not returning any of my mesg. The deck is half done .. most of material are at the house but now I need to finds someone to finish it ********** not sure what my recourse is here but this is so wrong and his rating is very good with BBB . I don't wish anyone misfortune and I hope his not hurt but I don't know if he does not return my call or texts.Customer Answer

Im not sure what BBB can provide ... my deck is 75% finished and contractor had ghosted me ... do I want the deck finish , yes. Im in the process of getting quotes.
Please let me know what are the possible results .

My time in finding another contractor and paying this services to finish deck... Im In the process in obtaining , I was advised approx $2200 , waiting for written quote .
Not sure if OJW will come back asking for more money ... even though he didn't finish and stopped communicating .
The dates without using the deck is our loss and not seeking any compensation for this ..

I need my deck finished ... its unfinished .
My resolution is to pay someone and OJ W should reimburse me this expense.
Received quote for $5200 today to complete what I already pais OJW.
Or please provide how BBB resolves issues as per my complaint..
A phone call would be helpful as sending notes at the end of the day prolongs your request especially if you don't explain your role .
To have OJW promote hits business with BBB name backing up his workmanship or trust is not right to future customers .

Camila , as per our converstioan of June 5, 2025, you did not send me the new link to break down solution .
The full amount for the project with replacing deck board would have been $ *********.
I've paid him $ 7,552.29
The project was at best 50% completed of the $ ********* , this company owes me the other have $ $ ******** as has to find someone else to complete job.
or $ 7552.29 of what I paid minus 50% = 5133.72 = ******** over paid ..... this company should not be using BBB as a referance for adverstising for what he did to me , I don't want other people to experience the same.
I have not gone to any other plant forms to discreding his company as I want to see what BBB can do first.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as per below :As per OJW c/******** Roberts responds of ... " I would agree to send you that minus the amount for the new frame materials as per the change order dated March 24, 2025 ($1159.78)."

As I was forced to hired someone else as I lost communciation with OJW, I never once question his workmanship , my concern was always the completion date due to a handicap wife, and older dog that has trouble walking and now my mother in law staying with ous that is wheel chair bound and thank you for respecting my decision .
Thank to BBB for helping me resolve this issue ..
