I took my older truck there for a leaking transfer case to be repaired. The service advisor *** was unprofessional in his handling of my concern. He verbally quoted me a repairs ranging from $2700 to over $4000 for the job depending on the work performed. I declined the repairs due to the age of the vehicle. I only wanted a leaking rear case repaired not any possible internal repairs which were never diagnosed. The case was never opened. After declining the work I was told that a diagnostic fee of $150 would apply which I paid when I picked up the vehicle. *** stated that he would provide me with a written estimate. Tue estimate did not contain any part numbers with pricing or labour costs. It was only a listing of potential parts and labor with no specific costs. The parts such as a seal and bearing kit were ball park figures verbally given to me at $500 each. I do not feel that this method of providing an estimate to a customer is professional or transparent. I previously worked in a large dealership service department and advisors there always gave written estimates with part number listings including prices and labor time and hourly rates. This is the proper way to be transparent to a customer and avoids disputes between businesses and the customer.

    Hello *****,

Im sorry to hear that you felt *** was not transparent or professional during your visit. Id like to clarify what we found during our initial inspection and explain the process.

During our inspection, we noted that your rear differential pinion and axle seals were leaking, your driveline fluids were dirty, and the transfer case leak was coming from a small hole in the rear case half. This type of damage is typically caused by the internal pump wearing a hole in the case where it is supported. Unfortunately, the only way to determine the extent of the damageor whether the transfer case ran low on oilis by removing and disassembling it for a full inspection.

Since we wouldnt know exactly what parts would need replacement until disassembly, *** prepared a rough estimate for you. He included the cost of a replacement case half, seals, and a case saver (which prevents this type of damage from recurring). He also included items like a chain and bearings to show you a realistic price rangeboth low and highfor the potential repair.

Regarding the invoice, I see that *** removed the parts and labor charges to ensure you werent billed. However, I agree that it may have been clearer if the pricing had been left visible with the quantities adjusted to zero for transparency.

If you would like, I can provide you with a copy of the estimate or any additional details.

Please understand that theres no way to provide a fully accurate estimate without disassembling the transfer case, which would leave the vehicle disabled in the meantime.

Thank you for your understanding, and please let me know if I can assist further.

    Best regards,
